Captain Virat Kohli scored his 23rd Test century, second of the series, as he went past the 400-run mark in the ongoing series. With Cheteshwar Pujara (72), Kohli added 111 runs for the third wicket as England bowlers continued to toil. Hardik Pandya later 52 with seven fours and a six before India declared at 349/7, with an overall lead of 520 runs.

England faced nine overs before the close of play which they successfully negotiated, adding 23 without any loss.
