India vs England, 3rd Test: England name unchanged squad for Trent Bridge, Ben Stokes sidelined

England have named an unchanged squad for the third Test against India at Trent Bridge starting Saturday, keeping faith in the 13-member group selected for Lord’s.

This means that Ben Stokes remains on the sidelines owing to the ongoing trial for a charge of affray in Bristol, which ruled him out of the second Test.

An England & Wales Cricket Board release on Monday said: “The ECB will make an assessment of Ben Stokes’s availability after the trial in Bristol has concluded”.

Stokes’ place for the Lord’s Test went to allrounder Chris Woakes, who was named Man of the Match in England’s innings victory for scoring a maiden Test century (137*) and taking four wickets, including India skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane in a crippling spell on the third day.

England squad for Trent Bridge Test: Alastair Cook , Keaton Jennings, Joe Root (capt), Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Jos Buttler, Chris Woakes, Sam Curran  Adil Rashid, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Moeen Ali, Jamie Porter.
