Ahead of the India vs England Test series, big hopes were pinned on the Indian fast bowlers. While Indian batting failed to deliver in the first two Tests, the pacer, despite injuries to Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, put in a commendable performance.

The fact that Indian pacers had managed to bowl out their opposition in their last seven successive innings went a long way in reaffirming that the pacers can do the job, and with the batsmen coming to the party in the third Test, Indian pace quatret of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya recorded 19 wickets among them helping India beat England by 203 runs.

Jasprit Bumrah registered his second successive five-wicket haul in England’s second innings (5/85) after Pandya had put in a super spell of five for 28 in the first innings. Ishant Sharma picked four in the match, while Shami returned two wickets. Bumrah had taken two wickets in the first innings while Pandya added one in the second. Ravichandran Ashwin took the final wicket to fall.

Their best tally however is 20 wickets they took against South Africa in the 3rd Test at Johannesburg earlier this year. India won the match by 63 runs. In that match Jasprit Bumrah picked five for 54 in the first innings followed by two for 57 in the second. Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked four wickets. Shami had 5 for 28 in the second after claiming one for 46 in the first. Ishant added three in the match
