Joe Root and Jos Buttler shared an unbeaten fifty partnership as England began solidly post lunch on Day Two  of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester on Friday. England are 232 for six and lead by 80 runs.

Buttler stepped up the pressure with a few aggressive shots while Root looked solid. Pankaj Singh continued to be unlucky as a wicket continues to elude him even as he bowled well. Dhoni started with Ravindra Jadeja post lunch and the batsmen looked comfortable against the left-arm spinner.

England had faltered in the first session when the Indian pacers bagged three wickets. They were six down for 170 when these two came together and stitched a crucial partnership.
