Mumbai: No 5, 2012

It will be a ‘revenge series for India when they take on England in the four-match Test series at home, which begins on November 15 at Ahmedabad.

England got a major boost ahead of their tour of India, when the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chalked out a plan to draft in the controversial cricketer Kevin Pietersen in their squad.

However, the tour will be as tough as it could get for Alastair Cook, who begins his captaincy reign after the retirement of Andrew Strauss.

England will be aiming for proper preparation ahead of the Test series, as they will be playing as many as three warm-up matches.

The tourists played their first warm-up match against India A at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from Oct 30 Nov 1, 2012, which ended in a draw.

The second warm-up game was against Mumbai A side, at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

The formerly ranked No 1 England side will play their third and final warm-up match against Haryana in Ahmedabad.

The opening Test will be played at Ahmedabad from November 15-19. The second Test will be held in Mumbai (Nov 23-27) while the third and fourth matches will be played in Kolkata (Dec 5-9) and Nagpur (Dec 13-17).

England will also play two T20 internationals – on December 20 in Pune and in Mumbai on December 22 – to return home for Christmas.

Cook-led England will return to India in early January 2013 for a five-match One-Day Internationals series.
