India vs New Zealand 2014, 1st Test, Day 1: New Zealand lose Rutherford after cautious start
Ishant Sharma dismisses Hamish Rutherford

Feb 6, 2014
The New Zealand openers started off cautiously after being put into bat in the first Test against India at Auckland. In seaming conditions, the openers had done well to ward off the initial pressure and hold fort to give New Zealand solidity at the top. At the end of 10 overs, New Zealand are 19 for one. Ishant Sharma dismissed Hamish Rutherford to get his 150th Test wicket.
Mohammed Shami and Zaheer Khan have got good movement and have troubled both Hamish Rutherford and Peter Fulton. In fact, Zaheer could have had Fulton off the first ball he bowled as the batsman edged it. It was going straight to the second slip, but Shikhar Dhawan dived across from third slip and the chance was grassed.
There haven’t been too many attacking strokes as the batsmen have played with measure in order to set the foundation. Shami is working good pace and movement on the wicket at Eden Park. In the ninth over, Shami had hit Fulton plumb in front, but the umpire ruled it not out.
Rutherford then chased one outside the off-stump and was caught at gully.
