Statistical highlight of day two of the opening Test match between India and New Zealand on Friday.


# Century partnerships have been registered for the fourth and fifth wickets for the third time in a Test innings for New Zealand — the first two occasions were also against India — at Christchurch in 1967-68 and at Napier in 2008-09.


# India lost their first three wickets for 10 or less in their first innings for the eighth time — the only previous occasion against New Zealand was in the Mohali Test in 1999-00.


# Corey Anderson (77 off 109 balls) has recorded his second highest score in Tests behind the 116 vs Bangladesh at Dhaka in 2013-14.


# Rohit Sharma‘s superb unbeaten 67 off 102 balls is his highest score overseas in Tests. This innings is his third highest behind the two centuries in his first two innings in Tests vs West Indies – 177 at Kolkata and 111 not out at Mumbai in November last year.


# New Zealand (503) have posted their second highest total at Eden Park, Auckland – the highest being 595 against South Africa in March 2004.


# Brendon McCullum (224 off 307 balls) has recorded his second double century in Test cricket. He had scored 225 off 308 balls at Hyderabad in November 2010. He became the first New Zealand batsman to post two double hundreds against India in Tests.


# McCullum and Anderson were associated in a partnership of 133 — New Zealand’s highest fifth-wicket stand against India at Auckland.


# Apart from McCullum, three other players have registered a double hundred each against India – Graham Dowling — 239 at Christchurch in 1967-68, Herbert Sutcliffe — 230 not out at Delhi in 1955-56 and Jesse Ryder — 201 at Napier in 2008-09.


# McCullum’s magnificent knock is the 50th innings of 200 or more against India in Tests. He became the first New Zealand batsman to register a double hundred at Eden Park, Auckland.


# McCullum became the second New Zealand skipper to record a double century against India — the first was Dowling.


# McCullum is the first batsman to register a double hundred as captain at Eden Park, Auckland. He became the fourth New Zealand batsmen to post two double hundreds in Tests, joining Stephen Fleming (three), Matthew Sinclair and Glenn Turner.


# Ishant Sharma’s performance is the best by an Indian fast bowler in a Test innings in New Zealand, bettering Zaheer Khan’s five for 29 at Hamilton in 2002-03.


# Sharma (6/134) has recorded the third best bowling figures in an innings for India at Eden Park. The two best being — Erapalli Prasanna (8 for 76) and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar (6 for 94) — both in 1975-76.


# Sharma has taken five wickets or more in an innings after 19 Tests. He was also the last Indian fast bowler to capture six wickets in an innings in an overseas Test — 6 for 55 vs West Indies at Bridgetown in 2011.
