India head into the series on the high of a historic series in Australia leveling the T20I series 1-1, winning the Test series 2-1 and finally claiming their first-ever bilateral ODI series win in the country with a 201 margin.

This is the World Cup season and both teams with all aim to fine tune their World Cup 2019 preparations and erase out any chinks in their respective squads. It also provides opportunity for fringe players to stake claim for a spot in the World Cup squad.

New Zealand have welcomed back Mitchell SantnerColin de Grandhomme and Tom Latham for the first three games of the five-match ODI series. Todd Astle (knee) and James Neesham (hamstring) have not been included in the initial group of 14 and have been asked to prove their fitness in the Super Smash before being considered for the final two matches of the series

India named allrounder Vijay Shankar and batsman Shubman Gill as replacements for the suspended duo of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. Shankar joined the team ahead of India’s second ODI against Australia, while Gill will join the team that is to fly to New Zealand.
