In the match, though Punam Raut (106) and Mithali Raj (69) performed extremely well with the bat, the rest of the team failed to match up to them, ending up with a par score of 226 for 7 against a strong team such as Australia. The bowlers also failed to perform under pressure with Poonam Yadav being the only successful one.

New Zealand, on their journey, defeated Sri Lanka, West Indies and Pakistan. Their match with South Africa was abandoned due to rain while they lost to Australia and England. In the match against England, though Amelia Karr put up a magnificent performance bagging a 4-for, the batters failed to chase 285 and handed the opponents a75-run victory.

It will be a contest between India’s batting and New Zealand’s bowling as these are the strong zones of the two teams.
