India vs South Africa 2015: DDCA officials meet Delhi Government’s probe committee to discuss feasibility of 4th Test

New Delhi: Officials of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Friday met the two-member probe committee of the Delhi Government at the Delhi Secretariat here to discuss feasibility of hosting the fourth test match between India and South Africa. Former Test cricketer and DDCA vice president Chetan Chauhan said the probe committee had certain misunderstandings about the functioning of the DDCA which the latter had clarified during their meeting. “See, they had some misunderstandings and wrong information about the association. They asked us some questions and we have clarified. They were quite satisfied with our answers,” he told reporters here. Meanwhile, DDCA Secretary Ravinder Manchanda and Treasurer C K Khanna expressed confidence that the fourth India- South Africa test match would be hosted at the Kotla. “We met the probe committee, they asked us certain questions pertaining to the functioning of the DDCA. They were satisfied with it and we are confident that Delhi Government will help us to host this match,” said Khanna. “It was a very successful meeting, and I can assure you that the match is on,” said Manchanda. Regarding the pending entertainment tax issue, Manchanda said, “We are going to appeal to the chief minister regarding this matter, and we are confident he will help us.” On a complaint filed by former cricketer Bishen Singh Bedi and other cricketers, Delhi government has also ordered a probe into the alleged financial irregularities in the DDCA. The two-member committee comprising of Delhi’s Urban Development and Sports Secretaries has been asked to submit their report on financial irregularities in DDCA within two days. The matter of the financial irregularities in DDCA was raised by former cricketer and BJP MP Kirti Azad. The Parliament sent the matter to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which forwarded the issue to the sports ministry, which has now trickled down to the Delhi government for further investigation.
