Rohit Sharma fell for 54 AFP

Batting against Sri Lanka in the second One-Day International (ODI), Rohit Sharma recorded his fastest fifty in the format. His fifty came of just 43 balls inclusive of 4 fours and 3 massive sixes. He along with Shikhar Dhawan added 109 for the first wicket before the latter fell for 54. Going for sweep shot, Rohit missed a leg-break by Akila Dananjaya that thrust into his pads.

Rohit did opt for the review but it was to no avail. The pair of Rohit and Shikhar has also surpassed 3,000 runs in ODIs as a pair. Prior to this match, Rohit averaged 7.4 against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka (Last 10 innings: 4, 0, 11, 5, 5, 0, 0, 4, 4, 4). Rohit to his credit has the honour of being the second Indian to score a century in Twenty 20 International (T20I). He also has the highest individual score in ODIs for India (264). He is only player in the world to have two 200+ scores in ODIs.

It was only last week that he was appointed India’s ODI vice captain. He has seen all up and down 10 years of international cricket, where he is yet to cement a spot in the Test eleven. Rohit is used to take additional responsibility on the field, having captained Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) to three titles.
