With one eye on the South Africa tour, the Indian team management is leaving no stone unturned to miss out on any opportunity to get some practice. As was the case in the first Test at Kolkata, Ravi Shastri and co. have asked the curator at Nagpur to produce a similar top for the second Test against Sri Lanka, starting November 24.
According to a report published in IndianExpress, the ground staffs at Jamtha were seen using a heavy roller, sprinkling water from time to time on a grass-laden track. Nagpur, however, has often been a spinning track that often bared the brunt of ICC for poor standards.

The only time it produced a lively track was when India played against Australia in 2004 against the wishes of the then India skipper Sourav Ganguly. Since then, the pitch at Jamtha has seen mostly low-scoring affairs.
It will be interesting to see how the pitch turns out come November 24, with sudden change of plans. At Eden Gardens, in bowler-friendly conditions, India struggled to put bat to ball on the first two days.
Indiaâs tour of South Africa starts on January 5.
