India vs West Indies 1st Test, Day 3: Shane Shillingford bags five as Ravichandran Ashwin departs for 124

Ravichandran Ashwin was dismissed for 124 runs by Shane Shillingford. The bowler completed a five-for as India are on 444 for the loss of eight wickets on Day Three of the first Test against India. Ashwin hit 11 boundaries in his 210-ball innings.

It was record innings for Ashwin having shared the highest seventh wicket partnership with Rohit Sharma (177) of 280 runs.

Ashwin has had a good record against West Indies as both his tons have come against the same opposition. In the last series against West Indies in 2011, Ashwin scored a century at Wankhede Stadium. The off-spinner has a special liking for Kolkata as he now averages more than 200 at Eden Gardens. In December 2012, he scored an unbeaten 91 against England.

Ashwin’s record partnership with Rohit was broken a few overs before his dismissal when the Mumbai batsman was out for 177.
