Chris Gayle was dismissed in the sixth over of the day as he couldn’t negotiate a back-of-length delivery from Mohammed Shami. He tried to defend but the ball took the edge and flew to Rohit Sharma at gully. West Indies are 25 for one on Day One of the second Test. The spectators in the meanwhile are cheering for Sachin Tendulkar playing in his final Test.

Both batsmen are tentative and stuck in their crease while the bowlers pitched it up to extract the juice from the wicket. In the fourth over of the day, a ball even came back in and hit Gayle on the pads, but umpire Richard Kettleborough turned it down. The openers did get some well-timed shots but the outfield is not as fast as the one at Eden Gardens to run away to the boundary.
