India ended Day 1 of the first Test at Antigua at 302 for 4 courtesy of an unbeaten 143 from Virat Kohli. West Indies started the day well as they got rid of Murali Vijay early. Cheteshwar Pujara and Dhawan then put on 60 for the second wicket, which gave India some stability until Pujara played a rash shot and threw his wicket away immediately after lunch. Ajinkya Rahane and Kohli then got together and put on 57 for the fourth wicket. Kohli was the more dominant partner in all partnerships and brought up his 12th century in Tests along the way. Earlier, India won the toss and decided to have a bat. India are going into the match with five bowlers – which included two spinners. West Indies on the other hand, have handed a debut to all-rounder Roston Chase, who had an excellent season with Barbados.
