West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo is confident of repeating his 2011 heroics when West Indies host India for four-match Test series later this month. Bishoo was one of the highlights during the three-match Test series between the two nations in 2011, which the visitors won 1-0. The 30-year-old took 12 wickets in the series, including a 7-for in the first Test. And the Guyana-born player will have another chance to bamboozle the Indian unit with his tricky spin. He last featured in a Test for his side during the tour to Sri Lanka in 2015. Subsequently, he was dropped for the tour of Australia, and will mark his return. Speaking ahead of bowling against a strong Indian batting unit, Bishoo was quoted by cricbuzz as saying, “I am up for it. I know I will have to bowl long spells and get wickets … I really want to have a good series. I want to have an excellent series.”

The leg-spinner was also confident of repeating his success which he achieved in the 2011 series. “I did well against India when they were here in the Caribbean back in 2011. The memories are always there. I took seven wickets in the match in Jamaica – and I’m confident of doing well again.

“We’re a young team and we know it will be a hard series, but we are fully aware of what is required. Everybody is up for it and we are coming along very well. So far this year West Indies have performed well in the short formats … we want to continue that good work.”

The West Indies team are led by Jason Holder, and will have a tough task against Virat Kohli-led India. The visitors come into this tour with Anil Kumble taking guard as the head coach.
