Ever since the rain has taken over, we have been barred from enjoying quality cricket. Be it the ongoing first Test between South Africa and New Zealand or the abandoned 50-over contest between Pakistan and Ireland, the rain interruptions have left everyone bored. In the fourth Test between India and West India, we have had only 22 overs of cricket in the first three days, with West Indies stuttering at 62 for 2. However, despite Day Three being sunny, it was called off due to poor outfield conditions, so much so that the groundsmen had to dig some parts to let the moisture out. As a matter of fact, India’s No. 1 Test spot is at stake. Even if the match ends in a draw, Pakistan will replace them, pushing them further down the ICC Test rankings. All the same, there’s very little India can do at this point of them. With only two days to go, they will have to bundle West Indies out as early as possible, then score runs at 4 RPO, take a lead and all-out them on the last day. For that to happen, India need a stroke of luck as well. Also read: Dravid recalls conversations with Laxman while fielding in slips
After the torrential rain, the outfield is likely to be slow. Thus, the batsmen will find it difficult to score runs at a brisk rate. West Indies, on the other hand, will look to play for the draw, given the they have already lost the series.
