India’s young brigade have sealed off the series is style. They outplayed an inexperienced Zimbabwe in all five matches and got the 5-0 result they were aiming for at the beginning of the series. Some of the big guns were given a break including MS Dhoni. And in his absence Virat Kohli has led India well.

Waller to bowl his fourth over. Jadeja should be given out here. He tries to sweep a leg side delivery, but misses. The ball hits the outside of his bat and loops up as the slip fielder takes the catch. The umpire, however, says not out. Jadeja then finishes off the match with a six over mid-wicket.

India have won the match by seven wickets and have completed the 5-0 whitewash.

Vitori to continue. Karthik pushes a full delivery towards the mid-off region and gets two runs. Then the strike is rotated due to a leg-bye. Jadeja then whips a full delivery towards long-on for another single. India need seven runs to win.

Waller continues. Karthik leans forward and takes the ball on the full and drives brilliantly between extra-cover and mid-off for a four. Then off the last ball, Karthik takes a single towards long-on. India need only 11 runs to win.

Vitori has been brought back into the attack. He gave away 31 runs from his first three overs. Vitori bowls the first delivery down the leg side for a wide. Jadeja then goes after a full delivery and hits it over the mid-off fielder for a four. Jadeja then gets a single towards point. India are hust just three hits away from victory.

Waller comes into bowl his second over. Karthik plays four dot balls before taking a single off the fifth delivery. He glides this one towards the fine-leg region. Jadeja then gets another single to towards long-off.

Williams to bowl his second over. Jadeja hits a four off the third delivery. The ball was a low full toss and Jadeja struck it straight down the ground. He then adds a six to his tally. He charges down the track and whips one from the pads towards the long-on region. There was a fielder there, but he could only help the ball along its way over the boundary.

Malcolm Waller is also brought into the attack. He bowls right-arm off-spin. He strikes off the second delivery. Rahane went on the back foot to a short delivery, but the ball spun in sharply and hit middle stump. Dinesh Karthik is the new batsman. He gets off the mark straight away with a single towards long-on.

Sean Williams has been brought into the attack. He bowls slow left-arm. Jadeja hits the first ball for a four. The ball was a full toss at off-stump and Jadeja smashed it towards the mid-off region. Rahane then gets his third ODI half-century with a single towards long-off.

Mushangwe to bowl his fifth over. The first three deliveries are all dot deliveries. Then Jadeja comes down the track and lefts the ball over the bowler to get a four. The next two deliveries are also dot balls.

Mutombodzi continues. Rahane gets India’s 100 with a single towards long-on.  Then the bowler bowls a googly. Rahane is completely beaten and the ball goes between Taylor’s pads and goes for four byes. A lot of eight runs came from the over.

Mushangwe continues. A good tight over from the bowler. Apart from two back-to-back wides, he does not give anything away. Just the two runs from the over. Jadeja faced the entire over.

Taylor persists with Mutombodzi. Jadeja hits a full delivery towards long-on for a single. Rahane then drives to the extra-cover boundary and gets two runs.

Mushangwe to bowl his third over. The first ball is struck through covers for two by Rahane. He then lofts a slow delivery over the bowler to get another four. India are moving quickly now and are getting closer to their target.

Mutombodzi to continue. Both leg-spinners bowling in tandem. Rahane hits his first six off the match as he pulls a short delivery over mid-wicket. The over gets even better for India as Mutombodzi bowls a wide down the leg side, which goes for four runs. So, a total of 14 runs from the over.

Double change for Zimbabwe as Tinotenda Mutombodzi replaces Jarvis. He is also a right-arm leg-spinner. Rahane again hits a single with a drive to long-off. Then Jadeja works the ball towards long-on for another single. Rahane then cuts a length delivery to sweeper cover for another single.

Natsai Mushangwe replaces Chigumbura. For those who did not know, Mushangwe is a right-arm leg-spinner. Rahane hits the first ball towards long-off for a single. Jadeja finally gets off the mark with a single towards square on the leg side. Rahane gets another single with a drive towards long-off.

Jarvis to bowl his eighth over. A very tight over from Zimbabwe’s strike bowler as he bowls a maiden to Jadeja. The left-handed batsman still has not got off the mark. He has played 18 deliveries so far.

Chigumbura comes into bowl. Rahane plays a brilliant straight drive between the non-striker and the stumps to get a four. The ball was pitched up by the bowler and was a half-volley. Those were the only runs from the over.

Jarvis continues. He is really bowling well on this Bulawayo wicket. He is getting the ball to move away and come in to both the batsmen. Just the one run from the over. Jadeja still unable to get off the mark.

Chigumbura to bowl his third over. Rahane gets a single by working a length delivery to third-man. Jadeja is then unable to get off the mark in the remaining four deliveries.

Jarvis comes into bowl his sixth over on the trot. He gets his second wicket of the match as Dhawan edges at a full delivery on off-stump. Taylor, who has so far had a poor match behind the wickets, takes a simple catch. Dhawan struck six fours and one six in his enterprising innings. Ravindra Jadeja is the new batsman.

Chigumbura to bowl his second over. He bowls a short delivery and Dhawan cuts hard and finds the gap between short cover and the point fielder as the ball races away for another four. But the over only yields those four runs. India are going at a run rate of 5.40.

Jarvis continues. He pitches the first delivery full and Dhawan drives towards deep cover for a single. Rahane then plays across the line to a back of a length delivery towards the mid-wicket region for three runs. Dhawan then gets another single towards the third-man region.

Elton Chigumbura replaces the expensive Vitori. He starts by just giving two runs from his first over. One was a wide and then Dhawan takes a single by playing a delightful cover drive.

And we are back from the lunch break. Jarvis to his fourth over. Good over from the pacer. Zimbabwe miss a great opportunity to take India’s second wicket. Rahane strikes the ball towards mid-on and takes off for a single, but Dhawan sends him back. Rahane is stranded half-way down the pitch when Taylor fumbles the ball as he destroys the stumps. Not Out. That is a maiden over though.

Vitori is persisted with by captain Brendan Taylor. Dhawan hits a six off the second delivery. He picked a straight delivery off his pads and struck it over mid-wicket for a maximum. He then punched a short delivery through covers for another four. Zimbabwe then fail to take a chance that comes their way. Dhawan top-edges a pull and the ball goes high into the air. There is confusion between Taylor and a fielder at short fine-leg and the catch goes down. Taylor dived but could not get his gloves right underneath it.

And that is lunch in the match. India need 121 runs to win in 44 overs.

Jarvis to bowl his third over. Rahane clips a straight delivery towards square on the leg side for two runs. He then nudges another straight delivery off his pads towards the fine-leg region for his first four.

Vitori continues. The first ball is on the pads and Dhawan clips the ball behind square on leg side. The third delivery of the over is short and Dhawan square cuts it through cover point. Then the fifth ball goes for another four. This time it was a short delivery and Dhawan pulled it towards square on the leg side. He then gets another four towards the fine-leg region. That was an expensive over. 15 runs came from it.

Jarvis comes into bowl his second over. Dhawan drives a full delivery towards the cover region for the first boundary for India. He then gets a single in front of point to rotate strike.

Brian Vitori shares the new ball with Jarvis. Dhawan gets off the mark with two runs towards third-man. He tried to drive through the cover region, but got a thick outside edge. He then gets a single with a cover drive. Rahane also gets off the mark with a leg glance towards square-leg.

Cheteshwar Pujara and Shikhar Dhawan open the innings for India. Kyle Jarvis will begin proceedings. The right-arm medium-fast bowler has struck of the fourth delivery. A good length delivery comes back in sharply and goes through Pujara’s bat and pads to hit the stumps. Ajinkya Rahane is the new batsman.
 


India need 164 runs to win the fifth ODI to complete a 5-0 series whitewash over Zimbabwe. Amit Mishra was the star with the ball as he took his career-best figures. His six-wicket haul helped India bowl out Zimbabwe for 163 in under 40 overs.

Mishra into his ninth over. Vitori gets a single towards the leg side. Jarvis then gets a single with a drive towards cover. Mishra then gets his sixth wicket of the match. Vitori pushed at a flighted delivery and edged it to Kohli at slip. That is 18 wickets for him in the series. He finishes with figures reading 8.5-0-48-6.

Shami comes into the attack. Vitori swings wild and gets two runs towards the mid-wicket region. He then gets a single off the back foot towards square on the leg side.

Mishra continues and will bowl his eighth over. Mushangwe gets two runs off the first ball with a towards mid-wicket. Then Mushangwe and Jarvis exchange singles before Mishra strikes again. Mushangwe clears his front foot and hits across the line, but misses and is bowled. It was a googly from Mishra. That is also his fifth wicket off the match.

Jadeja into his 10th and last over. Jarvis gets another four. This time he lofts the ball over the mid-off fielder. The 150-run mark is reached in the over as well. Jadeja finishes with figures reading 10-0-42-1.

Mishra continues. The in-form Williams is dismissed off the very first ball. It was a quicker delivery from Mishra and Williams edged a sweep shot to Kohli at first slip. Kyle Jarvis then gets off the mark with a four off the back foot towards the extra-cover region. Mushangwe then gets his second six with a slog sweep over mid-wicket.

Mishra replaces Shami. Just when Zimbabwe’s innings seemed to be getting back on track, India strike again. Mishra bowls a straight one and Chigumbura plays for the spin and misses. It was right in front of the stumps and the umpire raises his finger very quickly. Tinotenda Mutumbodzi is the new batsman. He too is dismissed off the last delivery. He edged a slower delivery to second slip, where Raina took the catch.

Raina is brought back into the attack. Williams gets to his half-century with a drive towards long-off for one run. That is his 14th ODI half-century. Zimbabwe need more from him and Chigumbura. Shami then bowls a back of a length delivery angling away. Williams pushes the ball off the back foot in front of point for a single. He is one run away from a well deserved half-century.

Mishra to bowl his fifth over. The first two deliveries are dot balls. Williams then gets two runs off the third ball as he gets down on one knee and reverse sweeps it towards deep point. He then drives the last ball off the over for a single towards long-on. He is into his forties.

Shami replaces Jadeja. Chigumbura plays a brilliant straight that beats the mid-on fielder for a four. The ball was coming towards middle stump. Just the five runs from the over. The partnership is worth 37 runs.

Mishra continues. Williams plays a reverse sweep that races away for four towards the third-man region. He then gets two runs from a drive through extra-cover. Jadeja continues. The first delivery is full, but Williams pushes it off the front foot towards point for three runs. Waller then gets a quick single towards the mid-off region. There was a fumble by the fielder and that allowed the batsmen to get the single with ease.

After a poor over by Raina, Kohli immediately brings back Shami into the attack. The first ball is pitched short and the left-handed Williams pulls it for a four towards the mid-wicket region. He took his time to get settled in, but is looking increasingly comfortable in the middle. After four dot balls, Williams gets a single off the last ball towards long-off.

Jadeja bowling in tandem with Raina. He is getting the ball to spin and bounce from a good length. That means the batsmen will find it extremely difficult to get him away. He also does this bowling quickly. The last ball in particular turned sharply and bounced high from a good length as Waller missed it completely.

Spin on both ends now as Raina replaces Shami. WIlliams and Waller exchange single in the over before the former plays a pre-meditated sweep and gets a four towards square-leg. That was a better over for Zimbabwe as seven runs came from it.

Jadeja to bowl his fourth over. Williams sweeps a straight delivery towards deep backward square-leg for two. He then pulls a short delivery towards mid-wicket for a single. There is a big appeal for leg-before while Waller is batting but the umpire is unmoved.

Shami comes into bowl his third over. Waller goes for a drive off a full delivery, but the ball takes a thick outside edge and runs towards third-man for two runs. Then Shami bowls one on the pads and Waller glances it behind square on the leg side for another two runs. That is the 50-run mark for Zimbabwe.

Shami Ahmed replaces Mohit. Maruma comes down the track again and tries to hit across the line, but the ball goes in-between bat and pad. Karthik takes the catch and the Indians appeal. The umpire raises the finger. Maruma looks disappointed and replays show that there was no edge. Sean Williams is the new batsman.

Ravindra Jadeja is brought into the attack by Kohli, replacing Unadkat. Jadeja is bowling with one slip and one leg-slip. Maruma comes down the track and drives towards the cover region for a single. Then Masakadza sweeps a straight delivery for three runs towards long-leg.

No breaks for Mohit as he continues. The bowler bowls a short-pitched delivery to Masakadza, who pulls it off the front foot for a four towards the mid-wicket region. He drives at a full delivery, but edges it straight to second slip, where Suresh Raina takes a good sharp catch. T Maruma is the new batsman.

Unadkat continues and there is a big appeal for leg-before off the first delivery. The ball is swinging into the right-handed Masakadza and strikes him on the pads. The umpire says not out. Replays showed that the ball was very close to leg stump. Then there is an even bigger appeal off the fifth delivery for caught behind. Masakadza slashes hard at a wide and short ball, but supposedly misses. The umpire is unmoved.

Mohit to bowl his fourth over. Masakadza gets a single with a drive towards extra-cover off the third delivery. Taylor is unable to get off the mark as Mohit keeps it very tight. The Zimbabwe captain has faced eight deliveries so far and is still on naught.

Not surprisingly Unadkat continues. Masakadza gets a single off the first ball with another cut towards third-man. Taylor is watchful in the first few deliveries he faces as Unadkat gets the ball to swing in both ways. The fifth delivery is pitched up and almost gets the bowler a wicket, but Taylor gets his bat down in time to avoid a leg-before. Just one run from the over.

Brendan Taylor is the new batsman for Zimbabwe and he will be at the non-striker’s end for the first ball of the fifth over. Mohit continues. The wicket of Sibanda looks to have made Masakadza a little cautious. The fifth delivery is slightly short and Masakadza cuts it to wide third-man for two runs. The last ball of the over driven towards wide mid-on for three runs.

India have made two changes to their starting eleven. Ajinkya Rahane comes in for Ambati Rayudu and Shikhar Dhawan replaces Rohit Sharma. No place for Parvez Rasool.

Zimbabwe make four changes as Kyle Jarvis, Timycen Maruma, Natsai Mushangwe and Tinotenda Mutombodzi come in for Prosper Utseya, Sikandar Raza, Michael Chinouya and Tendai Chatara.
