India: 230/4 | Overs 44.5 | Rayudu 63*, Karthik 8* (INDIA win by six wickets)

India win by six wickets! The visitors have finally sealed the match. After three singles in the first four deliveries, Rayudu dispatches a tame, full toss to the cover boundary to seal the game. He ends with an unbeaten knock of 63 after his captain Kohli laid the foundation with a century. India take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series while Zimbabwe go back with certain positives. They probably came in to have fun and give it their best and did just that. Raza was spectacular for his knock of 82 while the bowlers did well to take the chase till the end.

India: 223/4 | Overs 43 | Rayudu 57*, Karthik 5*

Utseya bowls and delays the inevitable. Just one run from it. Six runs required from six overs.

India: 222/4 | Overs 43 | Rayudu 57*, Karthik 5*

Confidence continues as Dinesh Karthik walked in. He bowls one down the leg and Karthik sweeps it to the fine leg boundary. Six runs from the over. Seven required to win.

India: 216/4 | Overs 42 | Rayudu 57* OUT! Kohli 115 (108), Raina 0 (2)

Utseya gets two wickets! Consolation, this. First Kohli steps down the track and looks to clear the deep midwicket boundary but hits it straight to Vusi Sibanda. He walks off after a wonderful knock of 115 from 108 balls. Suresh Raina, new man in, hit the second ball he faced straight to the cover fielder.

India: 215/2 | Overs 41 | Kohli 115*, Rayudu 56*

Finally the urgency to finish the game shown from the Indian batsmen. 20 runs comes from the over. That will not do any good for Tinotenda’s confidence. He sends the first two deliveries to covers and then through deep midwicket. Rayudu then got into the act and hit one through point. Kohli came back to strike and slammed a straight back six.

India: 193/2 | Overs 40 | Kohli 100*, Rayudu 51*

That’s a century for CAPTAIN Virat Kohli. He was on 99 at the end of the previous over and had to push through for a quick single but he has been terrific on his way to the feat. The powerplay comes to an end with the score at 195 for two. India need 34 runs to win from the remaining 10 overs.

India: 193/2 | Overs 39 | Kohli 99*, Rayudu 50*

Rayudu completes his fifty on ODI debut. The wicket has been slow and he was tentative early on. But he got his eye in against what can be termed as ordinary bowling at best. Meanwhile, Kohli is one short of another ODI ton.

India: 187/2 | Overs 38 | Kohli 95*, Rayudu 48*

Chatara bowls a good over and uses his slow bouncer very well. Kohli sights the length but doesn’t get behing it entirely as it was a few yards slower than he expected. Chatara bowls another short one, this time at full pace but its slightly outside the offstump and gives Kohli enough time to spot it and upper cut it to third man boundary. The over finishes with a single.

India: 181/2 | Overs 37 | Kohli 90*, Rayudu 47*

Taylor is mixing it around. He brings Jarvis back and has a juicy half-volley to offer to Kohli who absolutely murders it. The ball races away to the cover boundary as the fielders can only watch it go a tracer bullet. India need 48 runs from the remaining 13 overs.

India: 175/2 | Overs 36 | Kohli 85*, Rayudu 46*

Chatara returns and retains his tidy line. He gives only five singles away but the Indian pair will be happy to take just that as Kohli inches towards his ton and Rayudu towards his fifty.

India: 170/2 | Overs 35 | Kohli 82*, Rayudu 44*

Confidence is back into the attack. He seems to be enjoying his bowling. Rayudu sees out two deliveries while Kohli slams one for a boundary. That was short and wide and Kohli had no mercy for it.

India: 162/2 | Overs 34 | Kohli 75*, Rayudu 43*

Rayudu ends with a boundary and Kohli begins with one. Zimbabwe have no idea how to break this partnership. Eight runs from the over.

India: 154/2 | Overs 33 | Kohli 68*, Rayudu 42*

India go past the 150-run mark. They are doing it easily here. Runs are coming slowly, but they are coming nonetheless. The over ends with a boundary from Rayudu. Nine runs come off it.

India: 145/2 | Overs 32 | Kohli 66*, Rayudu 35*

The pitch is flatter than one anticipated and this duo is going slower than many would have hoped for. Another over of just four runs.

India: 141/2 | Overs 31 | Kohli 64*, Rayudu 33*

Rayudu is starting to look comfortable here. Earlier today, Sarang Bhalerao wrote about how this series will be crucial for him and many other youngsters. These two are building well here. Three runs from the over.

India: 138/2 | Overs 30 | Kohli 63*, Rayudu 31*

Sean Williams comes into the attack. He starts from around the wicket and goes for six runs as Kohli and Rayudu negotiate him easily to rotate strike. India need just 91 runs from the remaining 20 overs.

India: 132/2 | Overs 29 | Kohli 61*, Rayudu 27*

Kohli spanks another one through the leg side. This one is a full delivery and Kohli just flicks it through to the deep midwicket boundary. Three more runs from the over.

India: 125/2 | Overs 28 | Kohli 55*, Rayudu 26*

Four singles and a two from the over gives the visitors six runs from the over. Utseya has gone for just 32 runs from his eight overs so far.

India: 119/2 | Overs 27 | Kohli 53*, Rayudu 22*

Taylor brings back Jarvis in search of the third wicket to spice things up here. Jarvis doesn’t have anything challenging to offer to the settled Kohli and the over goes by with just two runs from it.

India: 116/2 | Overs 26 | Kohli 52*, Rayudu 20*

Another tidy over from Utseya. He gives only four runs away. This is superb stuff from Zimbabwe on the field. One would have expected the Indian batsmen to be all over them from the word go but they have made them work hard for each run.

India: 112/2 | Overs 25 | Kohli 50*, Rayudu 18*

A good over for India. Five singles and a boundary come from it as Kohli shuffles across again and pulls the ball to the deep midwicket boundary. Kohli brings up his half-century. He has played some very good strokes on his way to his knock. India need 117 runs from the remaining 25 overs.

India: 103/2 | Overs 23 | Kohli 43*, Rayudu 16*

Utseya is causing a bit of trouble for Rayudu here. The debutant has not been able to score off the offbreak bowler and has been a touch tentative. Two runs come from the over.

India: 101/2 | Overs 23 | Kohli 43*, Rayudu 16*

The 100 comes up for India. Mutombodzi has done well with his legbreak bowling. Only three runs from his fifth over here.

India: 98/2 | Overs 22 | Kohli 41*, Rayudu 13*

Indians dont seem to be in a hury here. At least not the ones in the middle. They are happy to deal in a few singles and let the scoreboard move along at a leisure pace.

India: 95/2 | Overs 21 | Kohli 40*, Rayudu 11*

Mutombodzi bowls his second over but I will save my humour for another day. He bowls at a good length and Kohli waits on the crease and opens the face of his bat at the last minute to guide it to the third man boundary. He then takes a single too. The over fetches eight runs.

India: 87/2 | Overs 20 | Kohli 35*, Rayudu 9*

Utseya keeps a tidy line to both Kohli and Rayudu and has only two runs to offer. Zimbabwe are doing well with the ball here. It will be an outside chance to pull off anything here but they should go for it.

India: 85/2 | Overs 19 | Kohli 34*, Rayudu 8*

Tinotenda CONFIDENCE Mutombodzi comes into the attack. Zimbabwe never fails to impress you with their range of names. ‘Confidence’ is the latest on the list. What a middle name to have. Coming back to the cricket, he bowls err..confidently and gives away just four runs.

India: 81/2 | Overs 18 | Kohli 32*, Rayudu 7*

Ambati Rayudu gets into the act now. He sees a short delivery, stays back at the crease and cuts it off the back foot for a boundary through backward point. India collect seven from the over.

India: 74/2 | Overs 17 | Kohli 30*, Rayudu 2*

Kohli is in fine nick here. Lovely use of bottom hand to dispatch the ball to the straight boundary between the bowler and the mid on fielder. Good over for India, seven runs from it.

India: 67/2 | Overs 16 | Kohli 24*, Rayudu 1*

Kohli cuts a Prosper Utseya delivery to the point boundary. Only one more run comes from the over. India are moving along at a slow pace but have enough in their batting arsenal to chase this down easily.

India : 60/2 | Overs 15 | Kohli 18*, Rayudu 1*

Two runs from the Chigumbura over. Rayudu is looking confident here. He has not shown signs of nervousness on debut and that is a good sign for him.

India : 60/2 | Overs 14 | Kohli 18*, Rayudu 1*

Debutant Ambati Rayudu takes guard. Will look to make most of this series every ball he plays in this series. He has waited patiently in the wings and now is his chance. The platform is pretty much set over here for him to be there when India win the game here, unless Zimbabwe pull something off.

India : 57/2 | Overs 13 | Kohli 13*, Rayudu 0* OUT! Rohit 20 (40)

What started off a good over for India ends with Rohit Sharma’s wicket. Another act of complacency from Rohit here. The ball was bowled outside the off-stump and he pushed at it half-heartedly. A clear edge carried to the wicketkeeper. Another start that could have been a big knock.

India : 48/1 | Overs 12 |  Rohit 17*, Kohli 10*

Chatara continues his fine piece of bowling and lets the India duo take only two singles from his sixth over.

India : 46/1 | Overs 11 |  Rohit 16*, Kohli 9*

Elton Chigumbura comes on to replace Jarvis. He bowls one too wide and Rohit slams it over the in field towards the point boundary. Six runs picked up from the over.

India : 40/1 | Overs 10 |  Rohit 11*, Kohli 9*

Chatara continues and almost gets rid of Rohit. Rohit tries to play a cut shot on the off-side and is lucky that the ball did not carry to the gully fieldsman. Rohit has clearly been surprised by the pace that these Zimbabwean bowlers have generated. A good over, for just one run from it.

India : 39/1 | Overs 9 |  Rohit 10*, Kohli 9*

Jarvis starts off with a no ball but he does well to bowl an ankle-level full toss as the extra delivery. Kohli manages to flick it through mid wicket and collects a couple of runs in the process. After a couple of good deliveries, Jarvis errs just a bit and Kohli gets into position and plays what can be described as the ‘perfect cover drive’ Everything about it was straight from the coaching manual. Jarvis shouldn’t lose heart, he has done well to trouble the Indian batsmen with extra pace. Just as kids in Indian jersey dance in the stands and shout ‘ We want six’, Kohli plays out the final ball of the over.

India : 30/1 | Overs 8 |  Rohit 9*, Kohli 2*

A very good over from Tendai here. He has used his pace to perfection, bowling good deliveries outside the offstump and beating Rohit’s bat on multiple occasions. Rohit has been slow in playing his shots gettng his bat close to the ball, but then, I am not the first one to notice that. Two runs collected from the over.

India : 28/1 | Overs 7 |  Rohit 7*, Kohli 2* OUT! Dhawan 17 (21)

Dhawan holes on out to the deep fine leg fielder! Jarvis bowls a short delivery and adds a few extra yards of pace to it. Dhawan was a touch late to react but went for the hook anyway and failed to clear Malcolm Waller. For what it was worth, Dhawan was looking like he could notch up a hundred. Next match, maybe.

Skipper Virat Kohli walks out.

India : 26/0 | Overs 6 | Dhawan 17*, Rohit 7*

A poor ball down the leg and Dhawan does the honours of pushing it down to the fine leg boundary. Chatara does well to keep him silent for the rest of the over. Seven runs from the over.

India : 19/0 | Overs 5 | Dhawan 12*, Rohit 6*

Shikhar Dhawan, you beauty! Jarvis strays a bit outside the off-stump and Dhawan latches onto it and plays a glorious shot over the in-field to the cover boundary. He seems to have his ICC Champions Trophy 2013 mode on. He finishes the over with another boundary, this time through point.

India : 11/0 | Overs 4 | Dhawan 4*, Rohit 6*

Chatara bowls a couple of peach-of-a-delivery to square up Rohit. End of glorious over. Just one run from it.

India : 10/0 | Overs 3 | Dhawan 3*, Rohit 6*

Rohit scores the first boundary of the innings. A poor ball down the leg side and Rohit guides it down to the fine leg boundary. But that’s all that Jarvis gives away. he comes back well with five dot deliveries.

India : 2/0 | Overs 2 | Dhawan 3*, Rohit 2*

Tendai Chatara starts well with too. He gives away four runs from it.

India : 2/0 | Overs 1 | Dhawan 1*, Rohit 1*

The suprememly talented Rohit Sharma takes guard for India. Kyle Jarvis opens the bowling for the home side and straighaway gets the ball to drift away from the righthander. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit manage a single each.

Zimbabwe: 228/7 | Overs 50 |  Chigumbura 36*, Utseya 5*

Zimbabwe finish on 228 for seven. Shami Ahmed bowls a splendid final over with a barrage of full deliveries, most in the block hole to strangle the batsmen at the crease and let them free their hands. Only five runs from that over. Chigumbura has played a brilliant cameo with 43 from 34 balls after Sikandar Raza setup the Zimbabwe innings with a solid 82. The hosts will be happy with this effort and hope to pick up a few early Indian wickets and ruffle a few feathers.

Zimbabwe: 223/7 | Overs 49 |  Chigumbura 41*, Utseya 6*

Unadkat starts his over well but Chigumbura manages to get a boundary. His eyes lit up seeing the length delivery and put every ounce of his energy into a manic shot to the long-off boundary. Six runs from it. Zimbabwe enter the 220s. They will be mighty pleased with their efforts. Unadkat has done well for his figures of one for 39 from his 10 overs.

Zimbabwe: 217/7 | Overs 48 |  Chigumbura 36*, Utseya 5*

Shami Ahmed comes back to bowl a tidy over. Only three singles taken off it. Can Zimbabwe blast away in the final two overs and get as close to 250 as they can?

Zimbabwe: 214/7 | Overs 47 |  Chigumbura 35* OUT! Mutombodzi 8 (7)

Vinay Kumar strikes! Mutombodzi tries to play one over the point fielder but cannot go past Shikhar Dhawan. Chigumbura, however,  finishes the over with a big six. 10 runs and a wicket from the over.

Zimbabwe: 204/6 | Overs 46 |  Chigumbura 28*, Mutombodzi 8*

Chigumbura is no mood to calm down. He sees a short delivery from Mishra and pulls it to the deep midwicket boundary. Three singles later, Mutombodzi gets into the act and slams a maximum over deep extra cover. 14 runs taken from that over as 200 comes up for Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe: 191/6 | Overs 45 |  Chigumbura 22*, Mutombodzi 2*

It is all slog from here on! High time anyway. Chigumbura capitalises on Vinay Kumar’s poor bowling and gets two boundaries from the over — one with a hook over fine leg and one with an upper cut over third man. 11 runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 180/6 | Overs 44 |  Chigumbura 12*, Mutombodzi 1* OUT!  Raza 82 (112)

Amit Mishra castles Raza’s stumps! A good innings from Raza comes to an end. He was tiring a bit and moved across to early and went for a pull. But, a googly (yes, another one) earns Mishra his third wicket of the game.

Zimbabwe: 176/5 | Overs 43 | Raza 82, Chigumbura 9*

Chigumbura regains his confidence with a couple of boundaries. He had played out a maiden and the pressure was mounting. Not any more.

Zimbabwe: 167/5 | Overs 42 | Raza 79, Chigumbura 1*

Jadeja finishes his spell with maiden to Chigumbura. Zimbabwe need some runs to try and challenge India here.

Zimbabwe: 167/5 | Overs 41 | Raza 79  OUT! Waller 2 (7)

Shami Ahmed cleans up Waller! He follows it up with some beautiful deliveries to new batsman Elton Chigambura who is happy to take a single and go off strike. He finishes with a delivery outside the off-stump.

Zimbabwe: 166/4 | Overs 40 | Raza 79*, Waller 2*

Jadeja comes back into the attack and gives only four runs away.

Zimbabwe: 162/4 | Overs 39 | Raza 79*, Waller 0* OUT! Taylor 12 (15)

Unadkat’s first ODI wicket! He gets the captain of the opposite number. Malcolm Waller walks out. His dad, the Zimbabwean coach will be watching keenly for more than one reason.

Zimbabwe: 156/3 | Overs 38 | Raza 79*, Taylor 6*

Raza slams Vinay Kumar for a six and four off two deliveries. What a time to go after the bowling. 12 runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 144/3 | Overs 37 | Raza 68*, Taylor 5*

Raza has made up his mind. He goes for a blind swing in the first delivery from Unadkat this is full and carries to Karthik behind the stumps. He is trying everything here. He comes across and tries to play a half-hearted natraja shot but it goes one bounce to deep midwicket. Unadkat mixes it up well, and bowls a slower delivery which Taylor tries to scoop over fine leg but he fails to connect bat to ball. Unfortunately for Unadkat, Karthik doesn’t collect the ball as it runs down for a couple of byes.

Zimbabwe: 139/3 | Overs 36 | Raza 66*, Taylor 4*

Raza shifts gears! He slams an over-pitched delivery from Vinay Kumar for a straight six. Three more singles and a three gives the home side 12 runs from the over. Raza has chosen a good time to go after the bowling. How much more damage can he cause?

Zimbabwe: 127/3 | Overs 35 | Raza 56*, Taylor 2*

Shami Ahmed serves Raza with a short delivery which the latter dispatches to the boundary with a flat-batter stroke. Seven runs taken from the over.

Zimbabwe: 120/3 | Overs 34 | Raza 51* OUT! Masakadza 11 (12)

A flash-in-the-pan innings from Masakadza. He goes after Mishra and hits him for a boundary off the first delivery. He slogs off the third ball and clears the in-field to pick up two runs. But, Mishra has the last laugh with another googly. Masakadza looked for another slog, but missed it.

Zimbabwe: 113/2 | Overs 33 | Raza 51*, Masakadza 5*

Masakadza gets a boundary! He charged down the track on two previous occasions. Raina saw that and bowled short, only for Masakadza to hold back and play it to the third man boundary.

Zimbabwe: 107/2 | Overs 32 | Raza 50*, Masakadza 0*

Pakistan-born Sikandar Raza brings up his half-century. In the empty stands at Harare, there is a small bunch of youngsters with ‘Team Raza’ on their t-shirts. They are smiling and waving the national flag. He has played well so far but needs to carry on and guide Zimbabwe to a decent total.

Zimbabwe: 105/2 | Overs 31 | Raza 48* OUT! Williams 15 (29)

Suresh Raina comes and he has a wicket! He bowls one through the bat and pads to castle the stumps and give India the second breakthrough. Still no sign of skipper Brendon Taylor as Hamilton Masakadza comes out.  Just two runs and a wicket from the over.

Zimbabwe: 103/1 | Overs 30 | Raza 48*, Williams 14*

Amit Mishra comes back and gives only two runs away. He bowls a couple of more of googlies as well. Zimbabwe have 20 more overs to up the tempo.

Zimbabwe: 101/1 | Overs 29 | Raza 48*, Williams 13*

Both batsmen looking to get the scoreboard ticking as the old ball is clearly coming onto the bat a lot easier than before. Neat footwork from Shami Ahmed saved a certain boundary but Raza and Williams have taken the score past 100. A good over for the home side, six runs off it.

Zimbabwe: 95/1 | Overs 28 | Raza 43*, Williams 11*

Shami Ahmed returns and Williams welcomes him with a boundary towards deep square leg boundary. He has shown an aggressive intent from the word go. Zimbabwe need that while Raza builds on at the other end. Ahmed bowls a good bouncer to Raza who is happy to duck and let it go. He dispatches the final ball towards the deep square leg boundary to take nine runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 86/1 | Overs 27 | Raza 39*, Williams 6*

Unadkat finishes his sixth over. He has given only 17 runs away. Two come from his last.

Zimbabwe: 84/1 | Overs 26 | Raza 38*, Williams 5*

Mishra bowls a couple of googlies but Williams is alert enough to see them from the back of the former’s hand. Three runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 81/1 | Overs 25 | Raza 36*, Williams 4*

Unadkat comes back and he still manages to get a bit of seam movement. The second delivery pitches on leg stump and straightens up. A couple of deliveries later, Raza mistimes a slower delivery but luckily for hit it falls in no-man’s land.

Zimbabwe: 76/1 | Overs 24 | Raza 31*, Williams 4*

Sean Williams starts off with a tribute to one of Zimbabwe’s best batsmen Andy Flower as he plays a reverse sweep to the point boundary. He tries one again in the fourth delivery but misses. It strikes his pad and Mishra gives him a stare. The over ends with just four runs from it.

Zimbabwe: 72/1 | Overs 22 | Raza 31*, Williams 0* OUT! Sibanda 34 (72)

Amit Mishra STRIKES! He bowls a well-disguised googly to trap Sibanda plumb in front of the stumps. The umpire thought that would have gone on to hit the stumps and ruled it in India’s favour. Remember, no DRS here. Mishra ends with a wicket-maiden.

Zimbabwe: 72/0 | Overs 21 | Sibanda 34*, Raza 31*

Sikandar is itching to free his arms here. He welcomes Jadeja’s sixth over with a big drive straight to long off. Only three more singles come off the over but expect some aggression to come along very soon.

Zimbabwe: 68/0 | Overs 20 | Sibanda 32*, Raza 29*

The openers have lasted 20 full overs. This is a great start for the home side in terms of wickets. A little bit of acceleration and we will have an interesting match on our hands. Mishra returns for another over of some short-pitched bowling and concedes six runs in the process.

Zimbabwe: 62/0 | Overs 19 | Sibanda 27*, Raza 28*

Kohli DROPS a regulation catch! Oh boy, that should have been taken. Jadeja bowls a delivery that straightens up and gets the outside edge off Raza’s bat. It goes straight to Kohli at first slip who manages to spill it out. There is a big appeal for a leg before in the last ball while Kohli even claims a catch. The umpire turns down both and calls the over. Jadeja, as expected, is bringing all the fun into an otherwise slow encounter so far.

Zimbabwe: 62/0 | Overs 18 | Sibanda 27*, Raza 28*

Amit Mishra comes into the attack. He starts off with a few short-pitched deliveries but Raza and Sibanda can only take three singles from it.

Zimbabwe: 59/0 | Overs 17 | Sibanda 26*, Raza 26*

Jadeja starts off with a flat over-pitched delivery and Sibanda hits a beautiful shot straight over the bowler’s head for a boundary. The costliest over so far, fetching eight runs.

Zimbabwe: 51/0 | Overs 16 | Sibanda 21*, Raza 23*

Zimbabwe bring up their 50. It has taken them 16 overs but they will be glad not to have lost a single wicket. Unadkat continues to generate a touch of seam movement. He even has a rather loud leg before appeal turned down.

Zimbabwe: 48/0 | Overs 15 | Sibanda 19*, Raza 23*

Jadeja continues here. He gets one to turn oddly and Raza is lucky that the outside edge goes past the first slip to to the thirdman boundary. Six runs come from the over.

Zimbabwe: 42/0 | Overs 14 | Sibanda 18*, Raza 18*

Unadkat gets a bit of seam movement into the right hander that puts Sibanda in a spot. He is varying his pace very well here. Only three scratchy singles from the over. These two openers are warming up on a typical winter morning. Will look to free their arms very soon.

Zimbabwe: 39/0 | Overs 13 | Sibanda 17*, Raza 13*

Jadeja bowls his second over and Raza gets a boundary now. He takes his front foot across and sweeps the ball to the fence. Four runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 35/0 | Overs 12 | Sibanda 17*, Raza 13*

Sibanda takes the risk that should have been taken a long ago. He sees a delivery short and wide outside the off-stump and plays it over the backward point fielder to the boundary. This will be a good time to start buiding on that run rate.

Zimbabwe: 28/0 | Overs 11 | Sibanda 12*, Raza 13*

Kohli brings on SIR Ravindra Jadeja — the man with the golden arm. He has just one run to offer.

Zimbabwe: 27/0 | Overs 10 | Sibanda 11*, Raza 13*

Virat Kohli throws the ball to left-armer Jaydev Unadkat. The lanky bowler starts well, giving away just a leg bye. Zimbabwe have managed just 27 runs from the first powerplay.

Zimbabwe: 26/0 | Overs 9 | Sibanda 10*, Raza 13*

The batsmen are looking much comfortable now while Vinay Kumar continues to maintain his line and length with unbelievable accuracy. It has been length deliveries pitched marginally outside off-stump and going away from the right handers from the very beginning. Three runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 23/0 | Overs 8 | Sibanda 10*, Raza 13*

The young Indian side showcases first glimpse of its fielding prowess. Shikhar Dhawan fielding at covers ran forward, picked up the ball with one hand and forced a direct hit. Kids all over the world watching, this is exactly how you do it. Meanwhile, Shami continued to get some away movement and on one occasion, Sibanda connects well to time his cover drive to the boundary.

Zimbabwe: 16/0 | Overs 7 | Sibanda 4*, Raza 11*

Raza and Sibanda get a move on. Much needed. Six runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 10/0 | Overs 6 | Sibanda 1*, Raza 8*

Another tight over. These two have absolutely nothing to give away. If there is anything called a litmus test for Zimbabwe batsmen, it is this. For the moment, they aren’t doing great. Just 10 runs from the six overs.

Zimbabwe: 9/0 | Overs 5 | Sibanda 1*, Raza 8*

Kumar surprises Raza with a good sharp bouncer. The latter did well to adjust himself and play the ball to his leg side. It gives Sibanda the strike who finally gets off the mark. Just the two runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 7/0 | Overs 4 | Sibanda 0*, Raza 7*

Ahmed comes back and bowls a lovely delivery to square up Raza. The length delivery pitched on middle and off stump, showed a hint of movement. Raza, however, regains his composure and gets a boundary off the next ball. Five runs from the over.

Zimbabwe: 2/0 | Overs 3 | Sibanda 0*, Raza 2*

Another outside edge and another single for Raza. Kumar continues to bowl good line and length in his second over. He even puts in a half-hearted appeal in the final delivery when Sibanda shuffled across. These two need to start freeing their arms soon.

Zimbabwe: 1/0 | Overs 2 | Sibanda 0*, Raza 1*

Another good over. Shami Ahmed starts well too. Five dot balls before Raza gets a single through an outside edge. He wouldn’t mind that.

Zimbabwe: 0/0 | Overs 1 | Sibanda 0*, Raza 0*

A tidy start from Vinay Kumar. Vusi Sibanda is happy to let most of the deliveries go past him to Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps. A maiden to start of with.

Ambati Rayudu has been handed an ODI debut as Kohli marshalls his young troops for the first game of the series. Cheteshwar Pujara will have to wait longer for his debut.

Indian captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field in the first One-Day International against Zimbabwe at Harare.

Kohli spoke of the excitement in the young-looking Indian squad and how they are looking forward to the challenge in Zimbabwe.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2013. I am Prakash Govindasreenivasan and I will be bringing you key updates of the match. Meaningless is what most are calling this series, but a good chance to watch the young Indian brigade take the field. As for Zimbabwe, they will want to play positive and eke out a few good results. To be honest, this could turn out to be an interesting series. Expect spirited performances from both ends.
