First boundary for Faiz Fazal – Pitched up and Fazal sublimely plays down the ground to bag his maiden international boundary. Couldn’t have been better! Presented full face of the bat. Photographer’s shot!

India need 121 runs to win!

Live cricket score update |India 8/0, 4 overs | Target 124 runs | KL Rahul 4 (14), Faiz Fazal 2 (9):

Fazal opens his international account by working a full delivery to third man. He looks up and thanks the heavens. He replaced Karun Nair, who scored a vital 39 in the previous match. Steady start – India are yet to score a boundary. Zimbabwe bowlers have been bowling outside off, forcing them to edge it to the slip cordon. However, Indian batsmen are not willing to take any risks.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 123 all-out | 42.2 overs:

Should MS Dhoni call Zimbabwe batsmen back and let them complete 50 overs? I mean, it won’t change the fact that India will win this match; but, at least Zimbabwe should be given enough time to score some runs for a second-string side like India. Makhaya Ntini would agree. There are still 46 deliveries left in the 1st innings. Innings report: Jasprit Bumrah’s best figures help India bundle Zimbabwe out for 123 in 3rd ODI at Harare

Jasprit Bumrah’s four-for restricts Zimbabwe from 104 for 3 to 123 all-0ut –  Bumrah registers his 2nd four-for of the series. As a matter of fact, his twin-strikes in the 33rd over helped India take 7 wickets in only 19 runs. In the last match, Zimbabwe lost 6 wickets in 20 runs.

India need 124 runs to clean sweep Zimbabwe. Will they? If they won’t, MS Dhoni will fiercely make headlines.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy this:

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 104/7 | 34 overs:

Four wickets in 0 runs  Will Makhaya Ntini commit a suicide? Well, we’ll have to wait for the news. I mean, there’s some news in the making for sure. First Rahul runs out Waller and then Akshar Patel dismisses captain Cremer for a golden duck. Zimbabwe are clueless, MS Dhoni expressionless and I’m wordless.

OUT! Waller run out (Rahul) 8 (15)

OUT! Cremer lbw b Akshar 0 (1)

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 104/5 | 33 overs:

Jasprit Bumrah twin’s strikes – Bumrah angles the ball in and beats Maruma’s inside edge. Typical Bumrah wicket! To follow him in the pavilion was the new batsman Elton Chigumbura. He edges a fullish delivery to wicketkeeper MS Dhoni.

Zimbabwe are going at snail’s pace. They are losing wickets. In short, they are making no impact whatsoever. Poor cricket by the incompetent Zimbabwe.

OUT! Maruma b Bumrah 17 (29)

OUT! Chigumbura c Dhoni b Bumrah 0 (1)

Jasprit Bumrah 6-0-14-2

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 95/3 | 30 overs | Malcolm Waller 3 (5), Timycen Maruma 13 (21):

Yuzvendra Chahal strikes – Out! Caught and bowled. Easy catch for Chahal. Absolute dolly! Bowled on middle and leg and Sibanda gets a leading edge. Zimbabwe lose their third wicket.  Malcolm Waller is the next batsmen. Zimbabwe need to stitch up 50-plus partnership to put MS Dhoni’s in a spot of bother. However, this match is turning out to be a mundane (obviously, it’s indeed a dead rubber).

OUT! Vusi Sibanda c and b Chahal 38 (71)

Yuzvendra Chahal: 6-0-18-2

Barinder Sran: 8-0-40-0

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 68/2 | 25 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 20 (54), Timycen Maruma 7 (13):

Zimbabwe going at snail’s pace – The hosts are batting at a run-rate of below 3 RPO. In the previous match, Zimbabwe cascaded from 106 for 3 to 126 all-out. Interim coach Makhaya Ntini expressed disappointment about the sudden downfall and wanted to hang himself for the blunder (of course, he was being sarcastic). They need to make sure that they bat for 50 overs to put up a respectable total  (difficult to define respectable total).

Yuzvendra Chahal: 4-0-13-1

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 56/2 | 21 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 15 (41), Timycen Maruma 0 (2):

Yuzvendra Chahal strikes – The rate at which the Zimbabwe batsmen were playing, a wicket was overdue. Chahal kept tossing the up ball, inviting the batsmen play a rash shot under such circumstances. Chibhabha loses his patience and holes out to Jasprit Bumrah at long on (isn’t it a surprise to see an ordinary fielder like Bumrah at the boundary line?).

Chamu Chibhabha c Bumrah b Chahal 27 (66)

Chahal: 2-0-3-1

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 46/1 | 16 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 9 (24), Chamu Chibhabha 23 (55):

Akshar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah into the attack – A left-arm orthodox at one end and sling-shot action at the other. MS Dhoni is making Zimbabwe batsmen work hard. Nonetheless, Zimbabwe batsmen are not willing to take risk; they have been watchfully playing the ball.

Akshar Patel: 2-0-4-0

Jasprit Bumrah:  3-0-60

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 38/1 | 12 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 7 (17), Chamu Chibhabha 19 (38):

Cautious start – Zimbabwe batsmen have read the conditions well and played the ball according to its merit. They have come with a purpose to score runs, and put a price on their wicket. After Hamilton Masakadza’s dismissal, Vusi Sibanda and Chamu Chibhabha have tackled Team India’s disciplined bowling incredibly well. If they keep going at this pace, they can score past 230. However, they need to stitch up a healthy partnership and put Indian bowlers on the back foot.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 25/1 | 8 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 5 (8), Chamu Chibhabha 10 (20):

Dropped catch – Yuzvendra Chahal drops a sitter. Vusi Sibanda gets leading edge off Dhawal Kulkarni’s outswinger. Chahal gets right under it, but takes his eyes off the ball at the last moment. Will it be a costly drop? Don’t forget Sibanda was the highest run-scorer in the previous match. Had Virat Kohli been the captain, he would have had a word with the legspinner. MS Dhoni, on the other hand, was expressionless.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 19/1 | 6 overs | Vusimuzi Sibanda 0 (3), Chamu Chibhabha 9 (15):

Flat deck – Unlike the previous 2 matches, there’s not much purchase today. However, there’s been slight movement in the air. The pace duo of Dhawal Kulkarni and Barinder Sran have displayed good seam presentation. While Kulkarni has been outside off, Sran’s bowling straight.

Hamilton Masakadza loses patience –  He shimmies down the track. Dhawal Kulkarni pitches away from him. Masakadza loses control over is feet movement and edges it to KL Rahul at first slip.

Hamilton Masakadza c Rahul b D Kulkarni 8 (18)

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 18/0 | 5 overs | Hamilton Masakadza 8 (15), Chamu Chibhabha 9 (15): Two back-to-back DOT deliveries by Sran. Zimbabwe batsmen have come with a purpose today, on a track that has something on offer for both batsmen and bowlers. DOT, back-of-length beats Masakadza’s outside edge. DOT, worked to cover point. ONE to finish the over.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 17/0 | 4 overs | Hamilton Masakadza 7 (9), Chamu Chibhabha 9 (15): DOT, play and a miss, Kulkarni shapes it away from Chibhabha. DOT, straight this time by Kulkarni, Chubhabhi plays with a dead bat, good cricket. DOT, Chibhabha lets it go. DOT, another length ball outside off. FOUR, inside edge, fortune favours Chibhabha. DOT to finish the over.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 13/0 | 3 overs | Hamilton Masakadza 7 (9), Chamu Chibhabha 5 (9): FOUR, short, Masakadza gets behind it and pulls over mid-wicket. THREE, slower ball, Masakadza reads it well and lofts over cover point. DOT, swung in, beats Chibhabha’s inside edge. DOT, Chibhabha lets it go, not willing to take any risk. ONE, Chibhabha takes quick single to extra cover. DOT to finish the over.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 5/0 | 2 overs | Hamilton Masakadza 0 (6), Chamu Chibhabha 4 (6): Kulkarni to bowl the 2nd over. FOUR, sublimely timed by Chibhabha, pitched up and driven past past, excellent head position, aligned in the line of the front foot. DOT, driven to point. DOT, length ball, Chibhabha keeps it down. DOT, pitched up again, driven to mid on. DOT, length ball, inside edge, bounced and hit on helmet’s grill. DOT to end the over.

Live cricket score update | Zimbabwe 1/0 | 1 over | Hamilton Masakadza 0 (6), Chamu Chibhabha 0 (0): Barinder Sran to open the bowling for India. Two back-to-back DOT deliveries, right on the money, hint of swing. WIDE, Sran straying down the leg side. DOT, sharp in-swinger again, inside edge onto the pads. DOT, similar ball, similar delivery. DOT, back of length this time, Masakadza works it to point. DOT to finish the over.

TOSS: Zimbabwe win toss, elect to bat against India. Faiz Fazal is playing in place of Karun Nair in this game.

BREAKING: Faiz Fazal will be making his ODI debut for India today. He received his cap from MS Dhoni.

Playing XI:

India: Lokesh Rahul, Faiz Fazal, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni(w/c), Axar Patel, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Barinder Sran, Yuzvendra Chahal

Zimbabwe: Hamilton Masakadza, Chamu Chibhabha, Vusi Sibanda, Timycen Maruma, Malcolm Waller, Elton Chigumbura, Richmond Mutumbami(w), Graeme Cremer(c), Neville Madziva, Tawanda Mupariwa, Donald Tiripano

India came into this tour with a squad replete with young and inexperienced players, but their performances have been as dominating as that of the full-strength side. KL Rahul, Karun Nair and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal were handed their debuts in this series, and all three young cricketers have impressed with their performances in the first two games.

There are Faiz Fazal and Jayant Yadav waiting in the wings as well, and it can be expected that MS Dhoni would want to give the uncapped players a chance to showcase their talent in the remainder of the series. India have four matches left on this tour, and it will not be wrong to expect that they want to give a chance at least to all the new players.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe have been pathetic across departments. They have bowled poorly, but what has been the biggest disappointment is their performances with the bat. It is not the case that Zimbabwe have struggled against the Indians, but despite showing lot of application, they just have not been able to put runs on the board.

Squads:

Zimbabwe: Graeme Cremer (c), Richmond Mutumbami (wk), Chamu Chibhabha, Tendai Chisoro, Neville Madziva, Hamilton Masakadza, Peter Moor, Vusi Sibanda, Donald Tiripano, Tendai Chatara, Elton Chigumbura, Craig Ervine, Timycen Maruma, Wellington Masakadza, Tawanda Mupariwa, Taurai Muzarabani, Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams.

India: MS Dhoni (c & wk), KL Rahul, Faiz Fazal, Manish Pandey, Karun Nair, Ambati Rayudu, Rishi Dhawan, Akshar Patel, Jayant Yadav, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jasprit Bumrah, Barinder Sran, Mandeep Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Jaydev Unadkat, Yuzvendra Chahal.
