India Women vs South Africa Women T20: Hosts set challenging 147

India Women have set South Africa Women a challenging target of 147 in their Twenty20 clash at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. Sunette Loubser was the the chief wrecker for the South Africa women as her timely strikes briefly Impeded India’s progress after the Powerplay overs. Where as Mithali Raj and Smrithi Mandana did the bulk of the scoring for India.

South Africa won the toss and asked India to bat first, but judging by the first six overs, their decision had backfired, as India skipper Mithali Raj took the attack to the South Africa bowlers, scoring at over seven runs an over. The end of the powerplay overs saw the Indian run rate fall drastically for a brief period courtesy the loss of three quick wickets, that of openers Vr Vanitha and Mithali Raj and number four batswoman Harmanpreet Kaur as the Indians were left reeling at 69 for 3 in the 12th over.

Smrithi Mandhana, the record maker from India continued her good form, rescuing the Indian innings from that tricky position, scoring an invaluable half century at a healthy strike rate of over a run a ball, in the company of Shikha Pandey who scored a brisk 23 of 18 balls that included a six and a four. The pair added 63 runs for the 4th wicket. Smrithi Mandhana was finally dismissed in the 20th over for a well compiled 52 of 42 balls that helped India finish their innings with a competitive total of 146 on the board. The Indian innings included 15 fours and three sixes.
