After being thrashed by Australia in the first three Tests of the four-match series Down Under, the Indian cricketers continued to skip training sessions as they enjoyed a day off from cricket on Monday.

India were mauled by an innings and 37 runs on Sunday in the third Test at Perth, as Australia regained the Border-Gavaskar trophy. Despite the humiliation of the consecutive seventh Test match defeat overseas, the team management preferred to give a day off to the cricketers.

Sachin Tendulkar preferred to spend his time in swimming pool, whereas classy middle-order batsman VVS Laxman, who is under immense pressure following his poor run with the bat, spent his time in the hotel s gymnasium, MiD DAY reported.

The report added that there are no practice sessions slated for Thursday and Friday. The Indian cricket team will resume training sessions on January 21-23 ahead of the fourth Test which begins on January 24 at the Adelaide Oval.

Meanwhile, coach Duncan Fletcher held one-on-one discussions with the players regarding the importance of a win at Adelaide.
