KXIP win by 6 wickets and the credit fully goes to KL Rahul. Just as Rahul completed his 50 he got back to his natural game and is smashing the ball to every corner of Holkar Stadium.

  • 11:13 PM IST

It is anyone’s game from here and KL Rahul plays the key role for KXIP. He has just survived a key role at this moment. They have Manoj Tiwary left as well but they don’t want it to leave it up for him.

  • 10:45 PM IST

OUT! maiden wicket for Anureet and it has come when RR needed the most. The partnership was flourishing and they needed a wicket for sure. Axar Patel has come in the middle ahead of Manoj Tiwary and Marcus Stoinis.

  • 10:36 PM IST

KL Rahul is playing a good hand here, he is finding the boundary once in two overs and making sure that the run rate doesn’t climb up as well. Karun Nair is accompanying him well from the other end.

  • 10:18 PM IST

KL Rahul needs to play a different role here. He has to come out of his role of aggressive opener and try and build a partnership with Karun Nair. RR bowlers have kept things tight till now. Are we in for another close match?

  • 9:37 PM IST

KXIP need 152 runs to win. RR needs to do a SRH here to win this one. Shreyas Gopal played a good hand scoring some vital runs for RR but the total is still less for a team like KXIP.

  • 9:25 PM IST

OUT! Andrew Tye gets the last man standing for RR as he dismisses Rahul Tripathi for 11. RR are in big trouble here. They need to score more 20 runs from here to believe they can wain the game. Jaydev Unadkat comes in the middle.

  • 9:12 PM IST

Mujeeb Zadran has the fortunes for KXIP. First the wicket of Buttler and then a very brilliant delivery to Jofra Archer. RR should atleast manage 150 here with 5 overs needing. Both the batsmen in the middle are capable of doing it.

  • 8:53 PM IST

KXIP should capitalise from here. Ben Stokes has had a rough season so far with his presence the pressure will build on Jos Buttler and the host need to maintain that.

  • 8:45 PM IST

The partnership between Buttler and Samson is not 46 and going good. If these two stay till the end RR will get to a good total and they need one against the likes of Chris Gayle and KL Rahul.

  • 8:33 PM IST

RR have lost early wickets but the big positive for them is the Jos Buttler who is looking good in the middle. Sanju Samson their most successful batsman in the season has also found his touch in the middle.

  • 8:05 PM IST

OUT! Ravichandran Ashwin gets D’Arcy Short on 2. Short has failed to keep going in the tournament so far. He has played some short innings for RR but failed to maintain the momentum. AJinkya Rahane joins Jos Buttler in the middle.

Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals Updates: Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, Match 38. The match will see Ravichandran Ashwin’s men in Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) go against Ajinkya Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their own backyard to keep their Playoffs hopes’ alive. The match will be played at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore. We will be bringing you the live updates, and interesting tweets. This is the first time both sides will square off in the ongoing season.

KXIP have lost their momentum after their long break as they lost to Mumbai Indians in their last game. Riding on Chris Gayle’s fifty, they were going well at the halfway stage. However, Gayle’s dismissal led to a brake on the scoring. Their middle- and lower-order woes came to haunt them again. Marcus Stoinis’ late blitz took them to 174 for 6, but it turned out to be too less: they lost with an over to spare.

RR on the other hand are at the bottom of the table with only three wins. The main reason this could be the bad form of key players like Ben Stokes and Jaydev Unadkat. Jos Buttler who opened the innings for them in the last match was seen in good touch. Ajinkya Rahane has provided the side a good start but failed to accelerate in the death overs.

KXIP Likely XI: KL Rahul (wk), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Yuvraj Singh/Manoj Tiwary, Karun Nair, Akshar Patel, Marcus Stoinis, Ravichandran Ashwin (c), Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Andrew Tye, Ankit Rajpoot/Mohit Sharma.

RR Likely XI: D’Arcy Short, Jos Buttler (wk), Sanju Samson, Ajinkya Rahane (c), Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Shreyas Gopal, Jofra Archer, Dhawal Kulkarni, Jaydev Unadkat
