In Match 24 of ongoing VIVO IPL 2018Chennai Super Kings (CSK) kept their trend of pulling off a heist in the last-over versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In pursuit of 206, CSK’s innings were led by Ambati Rayudu‘s counterattack and MS Dhoni‘s belligerence. This win also propelled CSK to the top of the table. RCB, on the other hand, continue to struggle in the bottom three.

In the post-match conference, CSK skipper and Man-of-the-Match, Dhoni revealed that he was quick to point out of a tough chase ahead, during the innings break. He felt CSK had conceded 10-15 runs more. ”I thought when we had the innings break this was difficult to chase because when I was keeping, AB batted well and it was tough to score. ”

Dhoni admitted of the chinks in the armour, but is confident of walking past them with each game. “The key for us was the two left-handers but we lost them early. This was a slightly slowish wicket and that’s why AB’s knock was special. It wasn’t an easy wicket, credit to him. Happy that people are chipping in for us. Shardul (2 for 46) will get better. The more he is under pressure, the better he will get. ”

Shedding light on his strategy of anchoring the chase, Dhoni replied: “You may win or lose, but if you do the process right, you are on the right track. The finisher can score runs, but if he can help the other batsman with what to play, run quicker between the wickets etc. with the experience I have, that is what you want from a finisher,” concluded the captain before acknowledging Rayudu’s 53-ball 82.
