It is almost over for Mumbai in IPL 2018. RCB on the other hand have kept things alive. They have showed a great skill of death bowling, especially Tim Southee. The last over mattered for MI while bowling.

  • 11:25 PM IST

30 off 12 needed. What an excellent over Southee has bowled giving only 5 runs. Can the Pandya brothers win it for the team? A lot depends on this over.

  • 11:06 PM IST

The Pandya brothers are the last hope for MI here. They do have Ben Cuttings down under but he hasn’t seen a much of IPL and the RCB bowlers are doing a good job today. The match is not completely out of reach for MI.

  • 10:50 PM IST

Hardik Pandya has a lot to prove of his value with the bat. He has showed today what he can do with the ball now it’s time to do it the bat. JP Duminy on the other end is not going for big shots. What is more important here is building a partnership and he is doing it well.

  • 10:31 PM IST

RCB may have been criticised for their bowling but you have to appreciate their performance today. They have not only picked 3 wickets early on but also kept things tight for MI. Pollard being in the middle is unable to deliver the big hits for now.

  • 10:11 PM IST

OUT! Rohit Sharma goes for a golden duck. Big trouble for MI here. JP Duminy is seen in good touch for now. Can he take MI all the way and secure his place in the playing XI.

  • 9:54 PM IST

Rohit still doesn’t want to open. Ishan Kishan has opened with Suryakumar Yadav. Maybe it is the left hand – right hand combination he wants to maintain. We might see Rohit coming one down though.

  • 9:38 PM IST

Mitchell McClenaghan had conceded only 11 runs off his first over and he has gone for 24 runs off the last over which included one six off the no ball. This does not seem like a competitive score especially with the bowling RCB have.

  • 9:26 PM IST

Make that 3 in the over. Washington Sundar looking for a big shot finds a fielder in the deep.

  • 9:22 PM IST

OUT! 2 in 2 for Hardik. Can he register first hat-trick of IPL 2018? He went for 20 runs off thee first over 6 off the next and is on a hat-trick now. How’s that for a comeback?

  • 9:07 PM IST

OUT! Maybe McCullum took Hardik Pandya very casually. He was running to the danger end but there seem no urgency or maybe he had just given up. Doesn’t matter how they come as long as the wickets fall. The partnership has finally been broken.

  • 8:57 PM IST

Kohli is a genius, he truly is. We have seen how Rohit Sharma is criticised for batting down the order and not opening. Whereas, Kohli at times open, at times comes one down and today came at number 4 and he is smashing the ball to every corner of the stadium.

  • 8:42 PM IST

OUT! Markande strikes again. The original decision was out but Manan Vohra decided to review it but did not help him. The ball was hitting the stump and the call wenbt umpire’s way. This brings Virat Kohli in the middle. RCB are 62 for 2 after 9 overs.

  • 8:26 PM IST

OUT! The first wicket has fallen for Mumbai and it is the wicket of Quinton de Kock. He was not looking good in the middle from the start. Rohit Sharma takes a brilliant low catch to dismiss him.

  • 8:08 PM IST

RCB are off to a steady start. What is surprising is the opening partnership for them. Both Brendan McCullum and Kohli have sat back and given chance to young Manan Vohra. Maybe this could be a strategy to power the middle order for them.

  • 7:51 PM IST

Mi have also got Pollard back in the squad. They can’t keep him away for long can they? It would be interesting to see JP Duminy in the middle order. MI do not have problems with big hitters and finishers with Pandya brothers and Pollard in the end.

  • 7:36 PM IST

MI (Playing XI): Suryakumar Yadav, Rohit Sharma(c), Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan(w), Jean-Paul Duminy, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Ben Cutting, Mitchell McClenaghan, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah

  • 7:36 PM IST

RCB (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Brendon McCullum, Virat Kohli(c), Manan Vohra, Mandeep Singh, Colin de Grandhomme, Washington Sundar, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal

  • 7:36 PM IST

MI have opt to bowl against RCB. We might see Rohit Sharma open the innings as Evin Lewis misses out due to wrist injury. However, it is RCB who would be batting first. They will surely miss AB de Villiers who is still unwell.

Hello and welcome to CricketCountry’s live coverage of VIVO IPL 2018, Match 31. The match will see Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) take on Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) at M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru. We will be bringing you the live updates, interesting tweets and stat facts from the cyberspace. In this season, RCB have lost 3 and won 2 at home. In addition, with MI’s return to form — following a comfortable 8-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) — it won’t be easy for hosts. To add to their woes, MI prevails in overall head-to-head record. The visitors have won 13 out of 21 encounters till date. RCB had lost to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the fourth time in a row in their last tie. Defending 176, their bowlers did fairly well but weren’t complimented by the fielders. Apart from their batting, RCB do not look like a force to reckon with. In addition, they would be hoping for AB de Villiers’ comeback post illness. MI, on the other hand, finally got over the line in Match 27 versus arch-rivals CSK. Chasing 170, Suryakumar Yadav had set the tone, while Rohit Sharma’s coming-back-to-form led to MI’s second win from 7 encounters. It was a much-improved bowling effort, especially in the death overs, to restrict CSK to 169 for 5. With a good record against RCB and a small ground to back their big hitters, MI start as favourites.
