Punjab opted to field in the second match of Indian T20 league against Delhi at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali. Ravichandran Ashwin, the newly appointed captain opened the bowling and was persistent with spin attack from the start as the spinners bowled seven off the first 10 overs. Gautam Gambhir with his 55 guided Delhi to a competitive total of 166 in 20 overs.

Munro failed to deliver big today as he was dismissed on four in the third over by Mujeeb Zadran. Gambhir was seen in fine touch as he recorded his 36th half-century equaling David Warner’s record of most fifties in Indian T20 league. However, he was run out soon by Mujeeb in the 14th over. This was the 16th time in his career when he was run out. Rishabh Pant played a cameo of 28 runs (13) and stitched a quick partnership of 34 runs with Gambhir. Chris Morris(27*) and Daniel Christian(13) contributed with some valuable runs in the end overs.

Meanwhile, Mujeeb became the youngest debutant (17 years 11 days) and youngest to take a wicket in the Indian T20 league. He later picked up the wicket of dangerous looking Pant and ended with impressive figures of 4-0-28-2. Mohit Sharma also picked up 2 for 33. Akshar Patel was taken to cleaners in the fourth over when he was smashed for 17 runs. He however got the wicket of Shreyas Iyer in the seventh over after being hit for a six.
