India’s cricket stalwarts, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, will now only feature in ODIs, having announced their retirement from both T20Is and Tests. Fans were eagerly waiting to see them don the blue jersey once again in the upcoming ODI series against Bangladesh. However, the tour now appears to be under threat. As per reports, the Bangladesh tour could be called off due to the prevailing situation in the neighboring country. With safety concerns mounting, the central government is reportedly hesitant to grant clearance to the BCCI for the tour, citing a lack of security assurances.

The Indian cricket team was going to tour Bangladesh next month, but now clouds of crisis have started looming over this tour. According to reports, the situation in Bangladesh is not good these days. After the change of power, the atmosphere there has deteriorated a lot. It is believed that the central government will not allow the Indian team to tour Bangladesh keeping in mind the safety of the players. An official announcement in this regard may be made soon.

Ever since the government has changed in Bangladesh, there have been riots there every day. In such a situation, the central government will never take the risk of sending Team India to Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina in August last year, the interim government is running the country. Its chief advisor is Muhammad Yunus.

Apart from this, BCCI and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) can soon take a big decision regarding the upcoming series. There is a possibility that this tour may be cancelled, but both the boards may agree to postpone it for a few days instead of cancelling the tour. BCB has also postponed the bidding of media rights for this series. India’s tour of Bangladesh was to start from August 17. Where Team India was going to play three ODIs and the same number of T20I series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were expected to play in the ODI series.
