International cricket returns to Pakistan as Bangladesh confim tour in April 2012

The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday confirmed their tour of Pakistan in april 2012, becoming the first team to visit the country after the deadly attack on Sri Lanka team bus in 2009.

However, the BCB will take a final call only after a security inspection in January 2012, according to the board’s president Mustafa Kamal, The Express Tribune reported.

“Who could forget that it was Pakistan that proposed Bangladesh’s entry into Test cricket. We are indebted to them. Pakistani players have played in Bangladesh and have helped our cricketers a lot. We will also try to support Pakistan in any way we can,” Kamal said in a statement.

This news comes after the meeting of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf and his counterpart Kamal. The PCB chief also endorsed Kamal as the next International Cricket Council president.

The PCB chief has expressed that security situation in Pakistan is back to normal and safe enough to host international teams.

“All those things that you must have seen, they are over now. That’s why we want to reorganise cricket and bring it back to Pakistan,” he said.
