‘Invited whole world…’: Karnataka Government blames RCB, said they made no effort towards official permission for their parade

Karnataka Govt. blame RCB for not taking permission for their parae

The government of Karnataka has told the court that Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) “invited the whole world” to their victory parade that was held on June 4 without even asking for formal permission. Officials have stated that the event was held while violating lot of rules, with only an invitation letter being sent via the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on June 3rd at 6:30 PM.

Despite the large level of gathering, RCB went with a public announcement at 11:30 PM on June 3. This was hours after KSCA’s letter, and this was followed with a post on June 4, which detailed the route of parade from Vidhan Soudha to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The government cited these actions in court and said that no official permission was granted, and held RCB responsible for breaking the protocol.

Appearing for the state, Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty informed the court that even though Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured a victory against Punjab Kings on May 29, the team made no efforts to get official permission for the victory parade or even keep the celebrations just inside the stadium.

On June 3, just one hour before the match began, they submitted a representation saying they ‘shall’ organise a victory parade. They were not seeking permission. They were merely informing us of their plans,” Shetty told the court.

The Advocate also pointed out how RCB made another social media post on June 4 8 AM, which called on the supporters to come and cheer for the team. However, no information was given regarding controlling the crowd.

Even this does not provide information about who could participate in the stadium. These facts are suppressed before lordships in the petitions. They have come to court with unclean hands, showing as if the programme was organised by the State government. It was RCB’s function,” AG Shashi Kiran Shetty told the court.

By then, thousands had already gathered at the stadium. RCB/DNA was responsible for gate management, ticket distribution, and arranging private security,” he said.

It was projected that it is not their responsibility. I stand corrected—the agreement is between RCB/BCCI and KSCA,” the AG stated.

Speaking about the cause of all this commotion, this was caused as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their maiden Indian Premier League title by beating Punjab Kings in the final of the IPL 2025. RCB won by 6 runs and ended their long-lasting trophy drought.
