Kochi registered a thrilling 17 run win over Kolkata in their IPL match at the Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Vinay Kumar bowled an excellent 19th over giving away only six runs and accounting for set Eoin Morgan and the lethal Yusuf Pathan.

Earlier, Kolkata were in spot of bother after losing Manoj Tiwary cheaply. Raiphi Gomez had given Kochi double breakthroughs – first clean bowling Jacques Kallis and then had Gambhir caught off the very next ball for nought.

Kolkata got off to a steady start thanks to their openers. At mid innings they had reached 69 runs but more importantly hadn t lost any wickets. They need a further more 88 runs from 60 balls.
Eoin Morgan and Jacques Kallis made their intentions clear from the word go with Morgan smashing two boundaries in the very first over.

Kallis complimented his partner as he hammered Sreesanth to the cover boundary in the next over and then launched RP Singh for three fours in the third over.
