Cricket betting claimed a life in Andhra Pradesh, as Ravichandra, a mechanical engineering student from East Godavari district kidnapped and later killed an innocent 12-year old.
Ravichandra, running into debts of Rs 5 lakh after betting on the matches of the ongoing Indian premier league (IPL) decided to kidnap Gokavarapu Vivek, younger son of a textile merchant.
The kidnapping plot went for a toss, as the victim attempted to fight back but was choked to death, and the body thrown into a pond.
The kidnapper was later caught by the local police, who were informed of Ravichandra s betting habits by his friends.
Ravichandra s parents ashamed of his son s heinous act have demanded for strict action against him.
