To be in contention for the play-offs, Rajasthan Royals have to defend a target of 127 against Deccan Chargers at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Rahul Dravid had won the toss and elected to bat first in a must-win game for Rajasthan.

Ajinkya Rahane wasn’t able to maintain his good form as he fell early to Steyn with the score at eight in the second over. Rahul Dravid and Shane Watson played the rest of the power-play overs with Dravid doing the majority of the scoring.

Watson was dismissed by a brilliant delivery from Amit Mishra which disturbed the batsman’s woodwork with Rajasthan at 41. Mishra didn’t stop there as he castled Stuart Binny with a wrong-un in the ninth over.

Mishra’s spell didn’t deter Dravid as he held the innings together. However, he too lost his wicket while trying to clear the ground in the 12th over. The catch was taken by Chris Lynn off the bowling of Manpreet Gony.

With Dravid’s dismissal, Rajasthan were in a muddle at 73 for 4. Owais Shah and Ashok Menaria needed to up the ante and take them to a good total. Their partnership of 35 took Rajasthan past hundred until Menaria holed out in the deep.

Shah tried to take Rajasthan to a competetive score, but they were dented regularly by the Deccan bowlers. Steyn finished with figures of 2 for 16, while Mishra ended up with 2 for 20.

Brief Score: RR 126 for 8 (Rahul Dravid 39, Owais Shah , Dale Steyn 2 for 16, Amit Mishra 2 for 20) vs DC
