Mumbai Indians pacer Lasith Malinga became the first bowler in Indian Premier League (IPL) to pick 100 wickets. Malinga achieved this feat while bowling against the Kings XI Punjab at Daharamsala on Saturday.
Known for his toe-crushing yorkers, Malinga has bagged 49 wickets in the form of bowled. He has five wickets in the form of caught & bowled, 40 wickets through catches by wicketkeeper and fielders and nine LBW dismissals.

“I am extremely happy at the moment. Before the tournament started I did not think that I would get to this feat,” Malinga was quoted as saying by NDTV.

“Taking 100 IPL wickets is great considering I did not start this season well. However I have improved as the season has progressed and now look to perform at my best in the playoffs for Mumbai,”  he added.

The Lankan pacer further paid tribute to teammate and former captain Mahela Jaywardene for supporting him. “Mahela was an unbelievable captain for us (Sri Lanka). I have learnt a lot from him and he has given me immense confidence in my bowling,” he said.
Malinga achieved this feat in his 70th IPL match. The other leading wicket-takers include Amit Mishra (93), RP Singh (87), Pragyan Ojha (84), Vinay Kumar (83) and Piyush Chawla (82).
