DD 135/9 | Overs 20 | Umesh 12*, Kaul 7*

Delhi Daredevils fall short by 33 runs, but avoid getting all-out as a bright side. Not that it would count much. But that’s it from me then! Off for dinner and then to sprint for the last train home! See ya tomorrow folks! Good night!

Chennai win by 33 runs.

DD 130/9 | Overs 19 | Umesh 11*, Kaul 3*

Chennai Super Kings edge closer to the top of the table as Delhi play out Mohit Sharma’s last over for five runs. An impossible 39 are required from the last six balls.

DD 125/9 | Overs 18 | Umesh 9*, Kaul 0* OUT! I Pathan 4(5), Nehra 0(1)

Dwayne Bravo gets two in two as he castles Irfan Pathan, before Ashish Nehra mistimes a slice that goes high in the air behind the sticks where Dhoni takes an easy catch. Only a matter of time now…between me and my sleep!

Delhi need 44 runs from 12 balls.

DD 122/7 | Overs 17 | I Pathan 3*, Umesh 7* OUT! Warner 44(37)

Delhi’s last standing hope, David Warner, holes out to Murali Vijay at deep square-leg to all but end the match in the 17th over.

Delhi need 47 runs from 18 balls.

DD 110/6 | Overs 16 | Warner 42*, I Pathan 2*

Dwayne Bravo bowls his second over and gives away just seven runs, which is good enough for the Chennai Super Kings at this stage. Delhi’s required rate is now nearing 15. However, as a pick-up, Pollard had gotten Mumbai through with almost a similar required rate in the last four overs yesterday.

Delhi need 59 runs from 24 balls.

DD 103/6 | Overs 15 | Warner 37*, I Pathan 0* OUT! van der Merwe 14(16)

Roelof van der Merwe does not pick R Ashwin’s top-spinner and lofts it high in the air towards mid-wicket, where Suresh Raina takes an easy catch. The Daredevils are falling deeper into the abyss.

Delhi need 66 runs from 30 balls.

DD 97/5 | Overs 14 | Warner 32*, van der Merwe 13*

Roelof van der Merwe spanks Jason Holder over cover for a magnificent boundary to end the over. Delhi need many, many more of these from now if they want to pull off a miracle.

Delhi need 72 runs from 36 balls.

DD 90/5 | Overs 13 | Warner 29*, van der Merwe 9*

Roelof van der Merwe pulls Ravi Ashwin towards deep mid-wicket, where Suresh Raina goes for what would have been a spectacular low catch, but it just doesn’t carry.

DD 83/5 | Overs 12 | Warner 26*, van der Merwe 5*

Finally, David Warner makes something happen as he sweeps Albie Morkel fine for six. Great shot that, given the number of attempted sweeps that have gone awry for Delhi tonight.

DD 73/5 | Overs 11 | Warner 18*, van der Merwe 3*

Dwayne Bravo comes in to bowl the 11th over and nothing really happens, except for four leg-byes, as the match drags on. Can I go home and sleep?

DD 65/5 | Overs 10 | Warner 15*, van der Merwe 2* OUT! Rohrer 4(5)

Soft dismissal No 5 for Delhi as Ben Rohrer gets the leading edge of an attempted flick down mid-wicket, and the catch is easily taken at square-leg.

DD 60/4 | Overs 9 | Warner 15*, Rohrer 2*

R Ashwin comes back for his second and does a tidy job as the Delhi Daredevils take the first Strategic Timeout in deep trouble. Warner and Rohrer are the only two recognised batsmen left, and even they have a steep ask ahead of them, with 109 more needed in 11 overs.

DD 56/4 | Overs 8 | Warner 13*, Rohrer 0* OUT! Jadhav 2(4)

Kedar Jadhav tries a cheeky scoop over the keeper, but can only find Dhoni leaping in the air to take the catch. Another soft dismissal and the Daredevils look down and out already.

DD 51/3 | Overs 7 | Warner 10*, Jadhav 0* OUT! Botha 23(20)

Another wicket falls off a mistimed sweep as Johan Botha top-edges one from just outside off that goes straight to fine leg to give R Ashwin his first wicket.

DD 49/2 | Overs 6 | Botha 23*, Warner 9*

Johan Botha shows Unmukt Chand how it’s done as he sweeps Jason Holder for four down fine-leg. Davey Warner then gets a French cut through for four more off the West Indian. Warner finishes the over with another boundary over mid-off. This would have been a great start for Delhi, had it not been for the two early wickets.

DD 28/1 | Overs 5 | Botha 17*, Warner 0* OUT! Chand 16(12)

Unmukt Chand lifts Mohit Sharma over long-on for his first six of the innings. However, the 20-year-old doesn’t pick the slower one and goes on to play a sweep off the pacer, and finds the top edge that carries straight to square-leg for six.

DD 28/1 | Overs 4 | Chand 10*, Botha 17*

Johan Potha pulls Jason Botha over deep mid-wicket for the first maximum of the innings. Sweet strike, that! Botha then lofts the tall pacer straight down the ground for a boundary.

DD 17/1 | Overs 3 | Chand 9*, Botha 7*

Mohit Sharma bowls another fast and tidy over, giving just five runs. This lad has been very impressive this season! Quite a find for CSK.

DD 6/1 | Overs 1 | Chand 4*, Botha 1* OUT! Sehwag 0(1)

Mohit Sharma gets Virender Sehwag to nick one to the keeper as Delhi Daredevils are off to a disastrous start.

CSK 168/4 | Overs 20 |  Dhoni 58*, Bravo 12*

Umesh Yadav does well in the last over of the innings, conceding just nine runs as CSK fail to pass the 170 mark. Delhi still have their task cut out.

CSK 159/4 | Overs 19 |  Dhoni 53*, Bravo 8*

Ashish Nehra gifts MS Dhoni two juicy full tosses going for the yorker, and is punished for his lapse as the CSK skipper over long-on and then to deep point for four. Bravo then comes in and cuts a short one for four. 17 come from the over.

CSK 142/4 | Overs 18 |  Dhoni 41*, Bravo 3*

MS Dhoni drops one on the roof as he blasts Sid Kaul over long-on! Massive! CSK would be aiming for at least 160 here, if not more. I’m going for 172.

CSK 131/4 | Overs 17 |  Dhoni 33*, Bravo 0* OUT! Jadeja 24(17)

Ravindra Jadeja swings aimlessly at Umesh Yadav’s good-length delivery that pitched on middle and finds his off-stump uprooted. You miss, I hit, says Umesh. CSK could have done without that wicket. Dwayne Bravo is the new man in.

CSK 125/3 | Overs 16 |  Dhoni 31*, Jadeja 20*

MS Dhoni heaves Ashish Nehra over long-on for six to get the death overs started before easing one to the third-man fence with a deft touch.

CSK 100/3 | Overs 14 |  Dhoni 15*, Jadeja 13*

Ravindra Jadeja lofts Siddharth Kaul over mid-on for a boundary to provide the only action of the 14th over as we take the second Strategic Timeout.

CSK 92/3 | Overs 13 |  Dhoni 13*, Jadeja 7*

Roelof van der Merwe quietens things down with a tidy over of just four runs.

CSK 88/3 | Overs 12 |  Dhoni 11*, Jadeja 5*

MS Dhoni launches as he powerfully drives Irfan Pathan over long-on for his first six. 11 runs come from the over for CSK.

CSK 77/3 | Overs 11 |  Dhoni 4*, Jadeja 1* OUT! Raina 7 (11)

Van der Merwe is brought on and he removes Suresh Raina! Big wicket here! Raina plays a full delivery in the air and cannot beat David Warner at cover who takes a good low diving catch. The over ends with a quick double. A wicket and six runs from the over.

CSK 71/2 | Overs 10 | Raina 5*, Dhoni 1* OUT! M Hussey 26(26)

Umesh Yadav gets another breakthrough for Delhi as Michael Hussey goes for the big pull off a short delivery, but only finds the top edge that is lapped up by Virender Sehwag at square-leg.

CSK 69/1 | Overs 9 | M Hussey 26*, Raina 4*

Johan Botha comes in for a second over and does a good job this time, giving just six runs.

CSK 63/1 | Overs 8 | M Hussey 23*, Raina 2* OUT! Vijay 31(23)

Delhi finally do a good job in the field an get Murali Vijay run out. It’s Ben Rohrer who gets a good throw in from point to find Vijay short of his crease while trying to sneak a quick single.

CSK 61/0 | Overs 7 | M Hussey 23*, Vijay 31*

Kedar Jadhav’s night gets worse as he lets four wides slip under his gloves, before fumbling an easy run-out attempt. I’ll have what he’s having! Meanwhile, Vijay continues to drive fine and gets a boundary straight down. This is a great start by CSK.

CSK 47/0 | Overs 6 | M Hussey 22*, Vijay 23*

Mike Hussey and Vijay both give Johan Botha the charge. First, Hussey dances down the track and lofts the spinner over cover for four, before Vijay targets the long-off fence the same way. Vijay then improvises and smacks Botha straight over long-on for the first maximum of the innings.

CSK 30/0 | Overs 5 | M Hussey 16*, Vijay 12*

David Warner stops a certain boundary at mid-off after Michael Hussey drives Umesh Yadav down the ground, before Murali Vijay manages to get a boundary with a nice leg glance to fine leg.

CSK 20/0 | Overs 4 | M Hussey 15*, Vijay 3*

Michael Hussey ruins Irfan Pathan’s over on the last two balls by stepping down the track and lofting the left-hander over cover and then straight down the ground for four.

CSK 11/0 | Overs 3 | M Hussey 7*, Vijay 3*

Ashish Nehra finds the outside edge of Murali Vijay, but the catch is spilled by a languid effort from keeper Kedar Jadhav. Otherwise a good first over from Nehra.

Siddharth Kaul shares the new ball with Irfan Pathan and keeps Chennai quiet.
