KKR 116/5 | Overs 19.2 | Bhatia 3*, Ten Doeschate 11* (KKR win by 5 wickets)

Ryan ten Doeschate finishes the game with a boundary off the second ball of the final over from Vinay Kumar. Gambhir & Co. have spoiled Virat Kohli’s party. The loss keeps them at the fourth spot with 16 points and an extra game when compared to the fifth-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad. As for Kolkata, this win will help them heave a sigh of relief as their campaign was slowly turning from bad to worse.

KKR 111/5 | Overs 19 | Bhatia 2*, Ten Doeschate 7*

Ryan ten Doeschate eases the pressure for Gambhir’s side. He struggles in the first two deliveries but latches onto the third one to slam it for a boundary over mid on. Bhatia swings and gets a single from the last ball. The score is on nelson and five runs are required from the last over.

KKR 105/5 | Overs 18 | Bhatia 1*, Ten Doeschate 2* OUT! Tiwary 24 (27)

Vinay Kumar starts his over very well to keep the pressure on Kolkata. The pressure gets to Manoj Tiwary and he wastes a full toss and gives a simple catch to Virat Kohli at cover. Bangalore almost struck again in the next ball when Chris Gayle’s direct hit had Ten Doeschate in trouble but replays showed that he was in by mile. The eventful over comes to an end with Kolkata still needing 11 from the last two overs.

KKR 102/4 | Overs 17 | Tiwary 24* OUT! Kallis 41 (45)

This game is swinging like a pendulum here! After scoring just two runs off the previous over, Kallis and Tiwary pick up nine runs in the first three balls off Mithun’s final over. However, Kallis holes one out at the mid on to walk back for a well-made 41. Tiwary scores another boundary to finish the over at 102 for four.

KKR 87/3 | Overs 16 | Kallis 33*, Tiwary 18*

The battle of wits between Kartik and Tiwary continues. Kartik comes very close to having the last laugh as a stumping appeal goes to the third umpire only to be turned down. Kartik does well to give only two runs in the over.

KKR 85/3 | Overs 15 | Kallis 32*, Tiwary 17*

Rampaul comes back to bowl a tidy over. Five runs come from it as Kolkata are taking it slow even at this stage of the game. They need 31 from the last five overs.

KKR 80/3 | Overs 14 | Kallis 30*, Tiwary 15*

Mithun comes back into the attack. The batsmen are doing it smartly here. The asking rate is not a lot and Kallis and Tiwary are dealing in singles. They collect six runs from the over.

KKR 74/3 | Overs 13 | Kallis 28*, Tiwary 11*

Tiwary is in some hurry here. He comes down the track and hits a four through the deep midwicket boundary off Murali Kartik. Six runs from the over.

KKR 68/3 | Overs 12 | Kallis 27*, Tiwary 6*

A good over from Unadkat ends poorly as Tiwary comes down the track and hits a boundary over the bowler’s head. Six runs from the over.

KKR 62/3 | Overs 11 | Kallis 26*, Tiwary 1* OUT! Pathan 18 (16)

Murali Kartik strikes! He is ecstatic as he removes Yusuf. The umpire takes a good hard look and rules in favour of the bowler. Yusuf is gone leg before the wicket.

KKR 61/2 | Overs 10 | Kallis 26*, Pathan 18*

A good over for the “home”side here. It starts with a classy drive from Kallis and even features a cheeky upper cut. Kolkata move onto 61 for two at the half-way stage. Manoj Tiwary walks out and he survives a run out chance. Only one run and a wicket from the over. Kolkata need 54 from the remaining nine overs.

KKR 51/2 | Overs 9 | Kallis 21*, Pathan 13*

A good tight over from Vinay Kumar. This game is still very much in the balance. Five runs from the over to take the team total past the 50-run mark.

KKR 46/2 | Overs 8 | Kallis 19*, Pathan 10*

Yusuf Pathan welcomes Murali Kartik with a big heave over long on for a six. That eases some nerves for the Baroda man who hasn’t been among runs. Kartik does well to give only one more in the rest of the over.

KKR 38/2 | Overs 7 | Kallis 18*, Pathan 3*

The wicket continues to behave oddly. Rampaul hits the deck well and gets the ball to bounce to trouble Yusuf. Yet, the batsmen take seven runs from the over.

KKR 31/2 | Overs 6 | Kallis 15*, Pathan 0* OUT! Gambhir 14 (15)

VInay Kumar strikes to remove Gambhir! The Kolkata skipper slashes at a ball close to his body and ends up edging it to Chris Gayle at first slip. Kumar almost sent back Yusuf Pathan who lobbed the first ball he faced but it fell just short of the mid on fielder.

KKR 27/1 | Overs 5 | Gambhir 14*, Kallis 12*

Jaydev Unadkat comes into the attack and gives away just five runs.

KKR 22/1 | Overs 4 | Gambhir 14*, Kallis 8*

Mithun endures more misery. Poor stuff from him. He bowls three identical deliveries outside the offstump to Gambhir who slams three boundaries through point.

KKR 10/1 | Overs 3 | Gambhir 2*, Kallis 8*

Kallis has a life! He goes for a blind swing and the ball goes up high in the air off a leading edge. However, Mithun at the deep fine leg makes a hash of the chance as he misjudged it. He runs far ahead only to realize the ball would fall behind him and end up beyond the boundary line. Rampaul was livid, so was Kohli.

KKR 4/1 | Overs 2 | Gambhir 1*, Kallis 3*

Abhimanyu Mithun starts well. He gets a decent bounce to trouble Kallis a bit. Kallis is lucky to survive after trying to go over the top. His shot clears the infield, but only just. Four runs from the over.

KKR 0/1 | Overs 1 | Gambhir 0*, Kallis 0* OUT! Manvinder Bisla 0(2)

Ravi Rampaul strikes in the second ball of the innings! Poor shot selection from Manvinder Bisla. He gives a fairly simple catch to Moises Henriques at point. The ball is doing a bit here. It is keeping low on some odd deliveries and even allowing Rampaul to take it away from the righ handers. A maiden-wicket to start off.

RCB: 115/9 | Overs 20 |  Vinay Kumar 14*, Unadkat 1* OUT! Kartik 0 (1)

What an off day for the Royal Challengers Bangalore! They failed to survive on a tricky wicket and have been restricted to 115 for nine. They will need a herculean effort to pull off a win here. As for the Kolkata side, they haven’t done anything wrong on the field since Gambhir won the toss. Looks like a straightforward chase for his side.

RCB: 109/8 | Overs 19 |  Vinay Kumar 10* OUT! Rampaul 0 (3), Mithun 2 (2)

Sunil Narine has his third and fourth wicket of the day! In the process, he also picks up the purple cap from CSK’s Dwayne Bravo. First to go was Rampaul who was struck on his pads plumb in front of the stumps. Abhimanyu Mithun then holed one out to Manoj Tiwary in the deep. Only four comes from the fruitful over for the bowling side.

RCB: 105/6 | Overs 18 |  Vinay Kumar 8*, Rampaul 0* OUT! Henriques 11 (11)

Kolkata is picking up a wicket every over here! Kallis comes back to pick up his second for the day. He sends back Henriques who goes for a big slog and is caught by Manoj Tiwary at long on. Kallis’s spell comes to an end with one for 17 from four overs.

RCB: 102/5 | Overs 17 |  Henriques 10*, Vinay Kumar 5* OUT! Tiwary 1(3)

Sunil Narine strikes! He traps Saurabh Tiwary in front of the stumps. Half the Bangalore side are now back in the pavilion.New batsman Vinay Kumar scores a boundary off the last ball to take the team total to 102/4.

RCB: 96/4 | Overs 16 |  Henriques 10*, Tiwary 1* OUT! AB de Villiers 28 (22)

De Villers scores a good six through covers and falls in the very next ball. Balaji provides an important breakthrough. Another slower ball from him and de Villiers goes for a reverse sweep, but can only hit the ball to Bisla’s hands.

RCB: 84/3 | Overs 15 |  de Villiers 20*, Henriques 7*

De Villers gets a move on. He shuffles across and sweeps Rajat Bhatia for a four through fine leg boundary to get eight runs from the over.

RCB: 76/3 | Overs 14 |  de Villiers 14*, Henriques 5* OUT! Gayle 33 (36)

Narine weaves his magic to send back the dangerous Chris Gayle! A flat delivery is pitched on Gayle’s leg stump and goes past his bat. Gayle is a bit lazy to put his backfoot inside the crease and Bisla does well behind the stumps. Gayle’s foot is on the line and the third umpire gives him out. Six runs and a wicket from the over.

RCB: 70/2 | Overs 13 |  Gayle 33*, de Villiers 13*

Senanayake comes back to bowl his last over. He continues to give only singles away as Bangalore have not scored a boundary since the last 31 deliveries. Senanayake finishes at one for 16.

RCB: 63/2 | Overs 12 |  Gayle 30*, de Villiers 9*

Rajat Bhatia comes into the attack and he frustrates the batsmen by taking the pace off the ball on a wicket where the ball is already not coming on very nicely for the batsmen. Gayle seems content rotating strike, we seriously wonder why?

RCB: 57/2 | Overs 11 |  Gayle 27*, de Villiers 6*

Kallis won’t offer any width! A superb over from the veteran. Just three runs from it. Gayle’s strikerate has gone under 100.

RCB: 54/2 | Overs 10 |  Gayle 26*, de Villiers 4*

Yusuf Pathan brought into the attack and he gives just seven runs away. This is a wonderful start for Gambhir & co. They have conceded just 54 at the half-way stage.

RCB: 47/2 | Overs 9 |  Gayle 23*, de Villiers 1* OUT! Kohli 17 (14)

Kallis strikes! Kohli was starting to get comfortable on the wicket but Kallis has pulled one back. He bowls a length delivery outside the off stump but Kohli chops it onto his stumps to give Kolkata an important breakthrough.

RCB: 42/1 | Overs 8 |  Gayle 22*, Kohli 14*

Virat Kohli welcomes Ryan ten Doeschate with a cut shot through backward point boundary. Ten Doeschate takes the pace off the ball for the big man Gayle but it was in the zone for the latter to slam a straight six. Gayle has take seven overs to come alive.

RCB: 28/1 | Overs 7 |  Gayle 13*, Kohli 9*

Jacques ‘ageless Kallis comes into the attack and manages to keep Gayle down. He even squares Gayle up with a good delivery. Kohli nudges the last delivery on the leg side and steals a couple of runs. Six come from the over.

RCB: 22/1 | Overs 6 |  Gayle 11*, Kohli 5*

Sunil Narine comes on. Good captaincy from Gambhir, this. The wicket is not tailor-made for a Gayle onslaught and he will have to be patient to get his eye in. Kohli, meanwhile, scores his first runs with a boundary through covers. Narine gives away six runs from his first over.

RCB: 16/1 | Overs 5 |  Gayle 10*, Kohli 0* OUT! Pujara 5 (14)

Pujara is dismissed! He comes down the wicket to play inside out but ends up giving an easy catch to Balaji at cover. Meanwhile, Gayle’s silent stay at the wicket continues as he is joined by Virat Kohli.

RCB: 14/0 | Overs 4 | Pujara 5*, Gayle 8*

Gayle is bracing himself for something special here. He has played a few dot balls and even let one go past. He and Pujara can eke out just three runs from Balaji’s second over.

RCB: 11/0 | Overs 3 | Pujara 4*, Gayle 7*

Gayle gets lucky! He opens the face of the bat and the ball flies just past Kallis at first slip. He is making special efforts to get his eye in by playing a front foot defence off Senanayake. Just six runs from the over.

RCB: 5/0 | Overs 2 | Pujara 3*, Gayle 2*

The Gayle volcano is yet to erupt. He and Pujara play out a good over from Lakshmipathy Balaji. Just two runs from it.
