Punjab is still in contention for the playoffs. The margin of victory could have been bigger had Punjab held on to their catches. A win nevertheless will give Punjab confidence. On the day they were too good for Delhi. They have to win their last league game against the Mumbai Indians.

DD: 164/7 | Overs 20 | Gautam 12* OUT! Rohrer 49 (29) and Morkel 13 (4)

And Punjab have beaten Delhi by seven runs. Chawla got Rohrer off first delivery. Morkel hit Chawla for a couple of sixes but Delhi left it for too late probably. Punjab still have a chance to qualify albeit mathematically. Net run-rate might come into equation.

DD: 150/5 | Overs 19 | Rohrer 49*, Gautam 11*

And Delhi have got a big over here. Mahmood has been carted. Two sixes off the first two balls and a boundary bring the equation down to 22 off the final over.

DD: 131/5 | Overs 18 | Rohrer 31*, Gautam 10*

Two overs and 41 runs to get. Only nine runs conceded by Praveen. Punjab are on course for a big win. Delhi need big hits.

DD: 122/5 | Overs 17 | Rohrer 21*. Gautam 4* OUT! Jayawardene 39 (42)

Sandeep has picked up Jayawardene off the first ball. He has bowled well. Gautam has paddled the final ball for a four. Delhi need 50 off 18 deliveries.

DD: 111/4 | Overs 16 | Jayawardene 39*Rohrer 21*

Delhi is in need of big overs. They are getting one boundary per over but the dot balls are offsetting the effect of a boundary. Sixty-one needed off 24 deliveries.

DD: 100/4 | Overs 15 | Jayawardene 33*Rohrer 15*

Awana is trying a bit too hard. He bowled a beamer to Jayawardene off the fifth ball. He apologized instantly. Delhi have got 14 runs off the over. Delhi need 72 off final five overs.

DD: 86/4 | Overs 14 | Jayawardene 27*Rohrer 11*

Chawla has conceded 14 off the over. Jayawardene gets the elavation and distance. First six of the evening hit by Jayawardene. They have achieved the run-rate for this over. Will they sustain the momentum for six more overs?

DD: 72/4 | Overs 13 | Jayawardene 16*Rohrer 8*

Awana is getting a lot of carry off the wicket. He is banging them short at an uncomfortable height. Rohrer hits a bounday off the fifth ball of the over. So only six have come off the over. Delhi need 100 off seven overs.

DD: 66/4 | Overs 12 | Jayawardene 15*Rohrer 3*

Jayawardene got a reprieve. Mandeep has dropped a sitter. Jayawardene’s laboured innings continues. Chawla conceded only five. Delhi need 106 off eight overs.

DD: 61/4 | Overs 11 | Jayawardene 13*Rohrer 0* OUT! Sehwag 30 (22)

Awana has accounted for Sehwag. Delhi are loosing steam in the run-chase. Just when Sehwag was looking ominous he has been nipped in the bud. Delhi need 111 off nine overs now.

DD: 56/3 | Overs 10 | Jayawardene 12*Sehwag 26*

Piyush Chawla bowls the first over of spin in this match. He is welcomed with a hit over extra-covers by Sehwag. Four byes follow then a fine paddle sweep from Sehwag makes it a 14-run over.

DD: 42/3 | Overs 9 | Jayawardene 11*Sehwag 17*

Parvinder Awana bends his back and gets a lot of bounce. The Dharamsala track is responsive if the bowlers gives in that extra every time. Delhi need to take chances. They are going nowhere in this chase.

DD: 38/3 | Overs 8 | Jayawardene 8*Sehwag 16*

Sehwag greets Sandeep with a four over mid-off. Sandeep concedes his second boundary when he strays on Jayawardene’s pads. The Delhi captain hits Sandeep to fine-leg.

DD: 27/3 | Overs 7 | Jayawardene 7*Sehwag 12*

Mahmood concedes seven off his first over. Miller gifts four easy runs: an overthrow which Praveen fails to gather. Easy runs is the least Punjab can afford to gift.

DD: 21/3 | Overs 6 | Jayawardene 7*Sehwag 6*

Sandeep goes for seven . Sehwag hits him over the slips for a boundary. How often have we seen that from Sehwag. Delhi are way behind in this game already.

DD: 14/3 | Overs 5 | Jayawardene 4*, Sehwag 1*

Delhi are struggling. The ball is swinging; Praveen is making the ball talk. Jayawardene and Sehwag are cautious.

DD: 12/3 | Overs 4 | Jayawardene 4* OUT! Irfan  7 (8) and Warner 0 (1)

Sandeep Sharma has picked up Irfan and David Warner off consecutive deliveries. What a start for Punjab. Delhi are tottering at Dharamsala.

DD: 11/1 | Overs 3 | Jayawardene 4*, Irfan 1* OUT! Chand  7 (8)

Chand starts the over with an effortless hit over covers for a six. But Praveen gets back with a swinging delivery. Punjab have got the initial breakthrough.

DD: 5/0 | Overs 2 | Jayawardene 4*, Chand  1*

Mahmood is swinging the ball. Delhi have scored only four off the second over. A slow start for Delhi. They will be looking for a good start after getting set.

DD: 1/0 | Overs 1 | Jayawardene 1*, Chand  0*

Praveen Kumar has started brilliantly. After five dot balls he induced an edge off Jayawardene but the second slip drops the catch. What an over from Praveen.

Punjab’s innings was dominated by two phases: one when Adam Gilchrist scored 26-ball 42. Delhi cameback well after dismissing the KXIP captain. After a quiet phase, David Miller tornedo was witnessed. Rajagopal Sathish played a cameo. Punjab scored 171 for four off their 20 overs.

KXIP: 171/4 | Overs 20 | Miller  44*, Chawla 0* OUT! Sathish 22(13)

Punjab have finished not so well. Six off the final over from Nehra. Miller hits the final ball of the over for a four. Delhi need 172 to win. Join us in 10 minutes.

KXIP: 165//3 | Overs 19 | Miller  39*, Sathish 21*

Seventeen off the over by Yadav. Sathish and Miller have launched an assault. Punjab have got a move-on.

KXIP: 148//3 | Overs 18 | Miller  32*, Sathish 11*

Kaul gets a shock of his life when he sees Warner misfield at long-on. The next ball was a missed yorker which became a benign full-toss. Miller hits it over long-off for a six. The last ball went for a six over mid-wicket. Eighteen come off the 18th over.

KXIP: 130/3 | Overs 17 | Miller  15*, Sathish 10* OUT! Marsh 45 (44)

Morkel gets Marsh caught at long-on by Irfan. R Sathish is welcomed by a short delivery. A slip is waiting to catch the edge in the 17th over. Sathish pulls Morkel for a six over mid-wicket.

KXIP: 119/2 | Overs 16 | Marsh 45*,  Miller  14*

Yadav is a tad unlucky. The first ball catches an inside-edge which goes for a four. The next ball catches the outside edge. Marsh was the benefactor of luck on both the deliveries. Miller hits Yadav for a six and gets a move on. Sixteen have come off the over.

KXIP: 103/2 | Overs 15 | Marsh 36*,  Miller  7*

Marsh bludgeons Pathan for a four straight down the ground. But after that Pathan beats Miller with the outswingers off the fifth and sixth deliveries. It is a rare sight: seam movement beating the batsman in the 15th over.

KXIP: 97/2 | Overs 14 | Marsh 31*,  Miller  7*

Kaul has been smashed through covers by Miller. That gets Punjab dugout excited. But yet only nine runs have come of the 14th over.  Punjab need big overs.

KXIP: 88/2 | Overs 13 | Marsh 28*,  Miller  1*

Morkel has conceded only two runs. Punjab seek change of momentum. Delhi are on top at Dharamsala. But ‘Killer MIller’ has the perfect settings to launch an assault.

KXIP: 86/2 | Overs 12 | Marsh 27*,  Miller 0*  OUT! Mahmood 9 (13)
Siddharth Kaul has caught a very good catch at long on. Mahmood tries to go downtown. He hits Nehra straight and Kaul has caught a ripper. Delhi have stalled momentum of Punjab.

KXIP: 81/2 | Overs 11 | Marsh 26*,  Mahmood 5*

Kaul has conceded only five runs. He has mixed the pace well. Mahela is rotating the bowlers at Dharamsala. Punjab seek momentum shift. The boundaries and sixes are hard to come by.

KXIP: 76/1 | Overs 10 | Marsh 23*, Mahmood 3*
The ball is moving for Delhi and Irfan but the line has been a tad short. Marsh is making room for himself and carting through the off-side. Delhi’s plan of attacking with five pacers has not paid rich dividends.

KXIP: 68/1 | Overs 9 | Marsh 19*, Mahmood 1*
Yadav gave away only one leg-bye to Mahmood off five deliveries. The last ball was a short-ball which Shaun Marsh comfortably pulls behind square-leg for a boundary.

KXIP: 63/1 | Overs 8 | Marsh 15*, Mahmood 1* OUT! Gilchrist 42 (26)
Irfan comes back into the attack. Jayawardene drops the Punjab captain off the first ball. The second ball has been pulled off the front foot over mid-wicket. Gilchrist gets a leading edge off the third ball and ball soars high. Irfan calls ‘mine’ and he holds on to the catch himself. A successful over for Delhi.

KXIP: 56/0 | Overs 7 | Gichrist 38* Marsh 14*
Umesh Yadav is the fifth bowler introduced in the attack. So far the strategy of using five fast bowlers has not really worked. It has proved to be counterproductive. He bowls a three-run over.

KXIP: 53/0 | Overs 6 | Gichrist 37* Marsh 14*
Ashish Nehra goes for a couple of sixes and a four in this over. Short and wide has been the order of the over. Gilchrist is in vintage form at Dharamsala.

KXIP: 36/0 | Overs 5 | Gichrist 20* Marsh 14*
Morkel gives away only two runs of the over. That pegs back things a little for Punjab. Delhi need a few more overs like these.

KXIP: 34/0 | Overs 4 | Gichrist 19* Marsh 13*
Ashish Nehra goes for runs: a bludgeon off the second ball over mid-off from Gilchrist, the second boundary is a streaky one which eludes the first slip. Punjab are off to a flier.

KXIP: 24/0 | Overs 3 | Gichrist 9* Marsh 13*
Morne Morkel has been introduced into the attack. And he has been hit for a boundary square of the wicket off the second ball. Umesh Yadav drops Gilchrist off the fourth ball at third-man. Extra bounce puts Gilchrist in some trouble. Delhi have missed the big fish. Morkel gives seven off his first over.

KXIP: 17/0 | Overs 2 | Gichrist 7* Marsh 8*
Siddharth Kaul has bowled a back of a length deliveries but strays on the pads off the fifth delivery. Adam Gilchrist in a red-hot form will seldom miss those freebies. A fine leg-glance goes for a boundary. Kaul concedes eight off his first over.

KXIP: 9/0 | Overs 1 | Gichrist 1* Marsh 8*
Irfan Pathan gets some swing but Shaun Marsh gets going by hitting two boundaries square of the wicket. Punjab have scored nine of the first over.
