How many times does this happen — 99 runs off 30 balls? David Miller, out of nowhere, won this one for the Kings XI Punjab. He walked in to bat at No 5, clobbered seven sixes and eight boundaries to score a 38-ball 101 not out — to knock out the RCB out of this game. Virat Kohli would be dejected after dropping a sitter to give a lifeline to Miller.

KXIP 194/4 | Overs 18 | R Sathish 27*,  Miller 101*

R Sathish comes to the party as he clobbers a six and two boundaries off Chris Gayle and David Miller hits a six off to complete his stunning century and win the game for his side with two overs to spare! Brilliant knock under immense pressure!

KXIP 172/4 | Overs 17 | R Sathish 12*,  Miller 95*

Miller is doing it all for the Kings XI single handedly! A boundary towards the backward point and a six over the deep midwicket area puts his side in a comfortable position against the RCB. They now need a further 19 runs in 18 balls.

KXIP 154/4 | Overs 16 | R Sathish 8*,  Miller 82*

Miller cracks a six off Ravi Rampaul’s first ball of the over and ends it up with a smart stroke for a boundary towards the third-man area. Punjab add 16 runs, and now need a further 37 runs in 24 balls.

KXIP 138/4 | Overs 15 | R Sathish 8*,  Miller 67*

One would wonder why, being in red-hot form, David Miller was sent into bat at No. 5. The left-hander mercilessly hits RP Singh all over the park to collect as many as 26 runs from the over. This was after he was given a lifeline by Virat Kohli in the previous over. Miller races to 67 not out off just 28 balls. Here’s how the over panned out: 6, 6, 4, 4, 4, 1

KXIP 112/4 | Overs 14 | R Sathish 8*,  Miller 42*

Drama! Miller gets a boundary on the third ball off Vinay Kumar towards short fine leg, a six on the fourth and a boundary on the fifth to make it 17 runs from the 14th over. But on the last ball, Miller once again gets a leading edge, and of all people, Virat Kohli spills it. This was after Chris Gayle dropped R Sathish at points, but on a difficult chance though.

KXIP 95/4 | Overs 13 | R Sathish 7*,  Miller 27*

Lucky for David Miller as a leading edge off Ravi Rampaul lands safely. Perhaps the bowler would have taken it neatly if he would have moved back, but not so. Impressive over nevertheless by Rampaul as only five runs come off it.

KXIP 90/4 | Overs 12 | R Sathish 6*,  Miller 23*

David Miller hits a six off Murali Kartik as Punjab add another 11 runs to their total. KXIP need a further 101 runs in 48 balls.

KXIP 79/4 | Overs 11 | R Sathish 4*,  Miller 15*

David Miller plays an upper cut for a boundary on the second ball, and Punjab scamper for another seven runs to make it 11 from the over.

KXIP 68/4 | Overs 10 | R Sathish 0*,  Miller 8*  OUT! D Hussey 13(14)

David Hussey is OUT! The Punjab captain tries to clear the long-on boundary but he is caught by Moises Henriques off Murali Kartik, who bags his second wicket in the game.

KXIP 58/3 | Overs 9 | D Hussey 11*,  Miller 4*

The required run-rate has gone past 12 and there’s no sign of counter-attack from the KXIP batsmen. The KXIP need a further 133 runs in 66 balls.

KXIP 52/3 | Overs 8 | D Hussey 8*,  Miller 1* OUT! Gurkeerat 20(20)

Gurkeerat Singh Mann falls after a confident start. The right-hander is trapped in front of the wickets on the fourth ball of Murali Kartik’s first over. Seven runs added from the eighth over of the chase.

KXIP 45/2 | Overs 7 | D Hussey 8*,  Gurkeerat 14*

R Vinay Kumar keeps it tight as only four runs are scored off his second over. Punjab need a push.

KXIP 41/2 | Overs 6 | D Hussey 6*,  Gurkeerat 12*

Gurkeerat Singh Mann plays a classic straight drive off Moises Henriques on the third ball of the over and skipper Hussey enjoys watching it, followed with an immediate applause. The Punjab batsman gets another four on the last ball as they reach 41 for tw after six overs.

KXIP 31/2 | Overs 5 | D Hussey 3*,  Gurkeerat 5*  OUT! Mandeep 16(12)

An eventful over by R Vinay Kumar. The RCB bowler is punished for delivering down the legside as Mandeep gets a boundary. On the next ball, he gets Mandeep caught behind the wickets with a faint nick. David Hussey walks in, anf gets a boundary on the first ball he faces.

KXIP 21/1 | Overs 4 | Mandeep 12*,  Gurkeerat 2*

Mandeep Singh gets a boundary on the first ball off Moises Henriques with a flick to the fine-leg area. Punjab add eight runs to their total.

KXIP 13/1 | Overs 3 | Mandeep 6*,  Gurkeerat 0* OUT! S Marsh 6(7)

And here goes the first one. Shaun Marsh plays it in the air on a delivery that was outside the off-stump, but finds AB de Villiers at extra cover, who makes no mistake to grab that one. KXIP lose their star opener.

KXIP 12/0 | Overs 2 | Mandeep 6*,  S Marsh 6*

Shaun Marsh pulls for a boundary on the final ball towards the square leg area off RP Singh, as Punjab add another six runs to their total.

KXIP 6/0 | Overs 1 | Mandeep 5*,  S Marsh 1*

Mandeep Singh hits a boundary on the first ball towards the square leg area off Ravi Rampaul as KXIP reach six for no loss after first over.

One more half-century by Chris Gayle, yet another blitz by AB de Villiers and Cheteshwar Pujara’s 51 have powered the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a mammoth total. The KXIP batsmen have an uphill task ahead of them.

RCB 190/3 | Overs 20 | de Villiers 38*, Henriques 16*

RCB add 21 more runs to their total to put up a huge target against the Kings XI. Debutant Neser is hit for as many as 62 runs from his four overs. De Villiers hits two boundaries and a six while Henriques slams one four.

RCB 169/3 | Overs 19 | de Villiers 21*, Henriques 12*

As many as 10 runs come from the last two balls as Moises Henriques clobbers a six and a boundary. Praveen Kumar was tight with his line in the first four balls but is punished later.

RCB 157/3 | Overs 18 | de Villiers 20*, Henriques 1*

AB de Villiers slaps it over the midwicket boundary for a six off Neser on the second ball, and gets an edge which flies to a four towards the third man area as RCB go past the 150-run mark.

RCB 145/3 | Overs 17 | de Villiers 8*, Henriques 0*  OUT! Kohli 14(14)

Kings XI Punjab have pulled back things quite well. From 96-0 in the 11th over, RCB have reached -2 after 17 overs. Awana keeps it tight in the 17th over as only five runs come of it and a big wicket in form of Kohli, who falls in a bid to up the scoring rate.

RCB 140/2 | Overs 16 | de Villiers 6*, Kohli 13*  OUT! Pujara 51(48)

Pujara is out! The RCB opener comes down the track to whip towards midwicket, but the ball crashes into the wickets after taking an inside edge. Manpreet Gony bags his second wicket in the game. AB de Villiers gets a boundary off the first ball — but on a leading edge towards the first slip.

RCB 133/1 | Overs 15 | Pujara 51*, Kohli 12*

Cheteshwar Pujara is lukcy for being given not out. The Bangalore opener dives to get into the crease, the bat is on the line when Praveen Kumar dislodged the bails. Pujara wasn’t in on time but the umpire thinks otherwise. Praveen is not happy.

RCB 125/1 | Overs 14 | Pujara 50*, Kohli 8*

Cheteshwar Pujara clobbers two consecutive boundaries off Awana to start with, and takes a single on the second last ball to complete his half-century from 45 balls. 10 runs added in the 14th over.

RCB 115/1 | Overs 13 | Pujara 41*, Kohli 7*

Cheteshwar Pujara swats one towards the deep midwicket for a boundary off Chawla on the second ball. RCB add seven more runs to the total.

RCB 108/1 | Overs 12 | Pujara 36*, Kohli 5* OUT! Gayle 61(33)

Chris Gayle lifts it over the long-on boundary for a six off the first ball off Manpreet Gony, who cleans him up on the next ball much to the delight of KXIP co-owner Preity Zinta. Gayle’s dismissal brings RCB captain Virat Kohli to the crease, and he immediately gets a boundary to start off.

RCB 96/0 | Overs 11 | Pujara 35*, Gayle 55*

A leading edge off Cheteshwar Pujara races down to the boundary towards the third man area. Piyush Chawla has bowled quite a few fast deliveries, with the fifth ball clocking 122.4 kmph.

RCB 88/0 | Overs 10 | Pujara 30*, Gayle 52*

Michael Neser bangs it short on the first ball and an unsure Gayle reacts late to it with a defensive stroke. But the second ball is similar, and Gayle moves aside to make room and swings hard at it. The ball takes an edge and races to the boundary over the wicketkeeper’s head. Another good over for the RCB as 11 runs come off it.

RCB 77/0 | Overs 9 | Pujara 29*, Gayle 43*

Impressive by Piyush Chawla as he doesn’t allow the RCB batsmen to keep up their momentum. Pujara is lucky as a return catch to the Punjab spinner drops short on the first ball. Only four runs added from that over.

RCB 73/0 | Overs 8 | Pujara 28*, Gayle 41*

Awana’s second over in the game gets only six runs to the RCB batsmen.

RCB 67/0 | Overs 7 | Pujara 24*, Gayle 39*

Gayle slaps the fourth ball for a boundary off Piyush Chawla, who is brought into the attack by Punjab captain David Hussey after his seamers flopped against the RCB batsmen. Another nine runs added to the total.

RCB 58/0 | Overs 6 | Pujara 22*, Gayle 35*

RCB batsmen have started punishing the Punjab bowlers. Pujara gets three consecutive  boundaries off Gony to join Gayle in the party.  The big-hitting Gayle signs off with a six on the last ball. It wasn’t a clean hit, but since it was from Gayle’s bat, it raced away for four towards long-on. RCB are off to a flier!

RCB 41/0 | Overs 5 | Pujara 9*, Gayle 31*

And here he goes! Gayle smashes two consecutive sixes off the debutant Australian Micheal Neser to take RCB to 41 after five overs. Neser bangs it short on the fourth delivery, Gayle moves a little aside and sends it over the deep midwicket boundary. The left-hander follows it up with another over midwicket.

RCB 23/0 | Overs 4 | Pujara 4*, Gayle 18*

Gayle is slowly getting into the rhythm as he slams the second ball off Manpreet Gony towards the deep midwicket boundary. RCB have made a confident start and KXIP bowlers haven’t made much of impression till now.

RCB 18/0 | Overs 3 | Pujara 4*, Gayle 13*

Chris Gayle cracks it towards the mid-off area off Praveen as the ball races down for a boundary. The Punjab seamer bounces back on the second delivery with an out-swinger on which the big left-hander is clearly beaten. A misfield on the last ball means the run total from the third over goes to seven.

RCB 11/0 | Overs 2 | Pujara 2*, Gayle 9*

Chris Gayle whips it towards the deep square leg boundary to collect four runs on a short ball off Parvinder Awana. RCB add eight runs from the second over of the game.

RCB 3/0 | Overs 1 | Pujara 1*, Gayle 2*

Both the Royal Challengers Bangalore openers Cheteshwar Pujara and Chris Gayle are off the mark. Praveen Kumar’s first over of the game yields three runs for the tourists.

Kings XI Punjab captain David Hussey won the toss and elected to field against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 51st match of IPL 2013 on Monday.

The big news from the middle is that Cheteshwar Pujara, who was out of action due to a fractured finger, an injury which he sustained during the Delhi Test against Australia, has been included in the RCB side.
