Delhi Daredevlis have slipped to their ninth defeat of the season and are currently engaged in a race to the bottom of the IPL points table with the Pune Warriors. The Rajasthan Royals, meanwhile, maintain their unbeaten record at home and move above the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore to second place on net run-rate.

RR 155/1 | Overs 17.5 | Rahane 63*, Watson 28*

In the end, the Royals coasted home with 13 balls to spare. Delhi hardly put up a fight, save for Ben Rohrer and Kedar Jadhav. The other nine players will really have to do some introspection.

Rajasthan Royals win by 9 wickets with 13 balls to spare.

RR 150/1 | Overs 17 | Rahane 60*, Watson 26*

Ajinlya Rahane coolly lifts Morne Morkel over point for four, before Shane Watson spanks the South African straight down for a six. The Royals are in a hurry to get home here. David Warner then saves what looked like a certain boundary at deep point for his team. 17 runs come from the over.

Rajasthan Royals need 5 runs from 18 balls.

RR 133/1 | Overs 16 | Rahane 52*, Watson 17*

Shane Watson slaps Pawan Negi straight down the ground on the last ball of the over to take the Royals closer to a win.

Rajasthan Royals need 22 runs from 24 balls.

RR 126/1 | Overs 15 | Rahane 50*, Watson 12*

Ajinkya Rahane brings up his third fifty of IPL 6 and ninth overall with a punch towards point. Shane Watson then gets off the mark first ball with a flick off the pads that runs away for four. Watson gets another boundary as he slashes hard at Umesh Yadav’s short and wide delivery and sends it over point.

Rajasthan Royals need 29 runs from 30 balls.

RR 113/1 | Overs 14 | Rahane 49*, Watson 0* OUT! Dravid 53(48)

Rahul Dravid’s fine innings comes to an end as he holes out to Ajit Agarkar at long-on to give Delhi their first wicket. Siddharth Kaul then drifts down the leg and Rahane just helps it along to the fine-leg boundary.

RR 105/0 | Overs 13 | Dravid 52*, Rahane 42*

Rahul Dravid gets to his fourth half-century of this season with an outside edge towards third-man. Rajasthan also bring up their hundred in the process.

RR 97/0 | Overs 12 | Dravid 47*, Rahane 39*

Ben Rohrer gets a bowl. Rahul Dravid makes room for himself and swats the ball over cover and between extra-cover and long-off for a boundary. Ajinkya Rahane then flicks the bowler off his pads for four more down fine-leg.

RR 85/0 | Overs 11 | Dravid 41*, Rahane 34*

Pawan Negi comes back to bowl another decent over, giving away eight runs this time. DD need wickets, and they need them now!

RR 77/0 | Overs 10 | Dravid 37*, Rahane 30*

Ajit Agarkar bowls short to Ajinkya Rahane, who thumps it over long-on for four. At the halfway stage, the Royals are coasting along to their eighth win.

RR 68/0 | Overs 9 | Dravid 34*, Rahane 24*

Pawan Negi comes back for a second over and concedes seven runs.

RR 61/0 | Overs 8 | Dravid 31*, Rahane 21*

Morne Morkel concedes an unlucky boundary as Ajinkya Rahane’s inside edge whisks past the stumps and the keeper.

RR 55/0 | Overs 7 | Dravid 30*, Rahane 15*

Slow left-arm bowler Pawan Negi comes into the attack as the Royals get six singles from the over. This will be an easy victory for the hosts if it goes on like this.

RR 49/0 | Overs 6 | Dravid 28*, Rahane 13*

Ajit Agarkar comes into the attack and is absolutely taken apart by Rahul Dravid. The Royals skipper spanks Agarkar straight down the ground first, and then over mid-off for consecutive boundaries. He’s in some form here, Dravid!

RR 36/0 | Overs 5 | Dravid 20*, Rahane 8*

Ajinkya Rahane mistimes an attempted lofted drive over cover as the ball goes high in the air towards deep point. Pawan Negi tries for the catch, but lets it pop out. Should have been taken at this level. Morne Morkel then allows Dravid to get his third boundary off the legs. This is turning out to be a good start for the Royals.

RR 27/0 | Overs 4 | Dravid 15*, Rahane 4*

Umesh Yadav bowls a bouncer that flies over the keeper for four byes. The Vidarbha pacer then bowls to Dravid’s pads and the Rajasthan skipper flicks it for four. Umesh recovers to bowl a good over.

RR 18/0 | Overs 3 | Dravid 11*, Rahane 4*

Siddharth Kaul drifts down the leg and that’s all Rahul Dravid needs to flick it off his wrists for four to deep square-leg. Dravid then lofts one over cover-point to get four more for his team. Two contrasting overs there from Kaul. He’s gone a bit wayward in his second.

RR 7/0 | Overs 2 | Dravid 1*, Rahane 4*

Umesh Yadav bowls with good pace, above 140ks, as the Royals get their first runs on the board.

RR 0/0 | Overs 1 | Dravid 0*, Rahane 0*

Siddharth Kaul gets a bowl first up and bowls a maiden. Good pace and he’s getting decent movement off the pitch.

So, a fine 76-run unbeaten stand between Ben Rohrer and Kedar Jadhav takes Delhi to a respectable 154 for three. The Daredevils were tottering at 78 for four when the duo got together. They took it slowly in the beginning, looking to preserve their wickets, before Rohrer let loose in the last four overs, which yielded 50 runs. Join us in a bit for the chase.

DD 154/4 | Overs 20 | Rohrer 63*, Jadhav 24*

Ben Rohrer misdudges a slow one from James Faulkner as he goes for the pull, finds the outside edge that flies over short third-man for four. Rohrer signs off in style by spanking Faulkner straight down the ground for maximum.

DD 140/4 | Overs 19 | Rohrer 52*, Jadhav 21*

Ben Rohrer places his flick perfectly as it rolls along to the deep backward square-leg fence, before walking across to his left and almost to the edge of the pitch to help Watson to the fine-leg fence. The shot also brought up his first half-century of IPL 6.

DD 128/4 | Overs 18 | Rohrer 41*, Jadhav 20*

Kedar Jadhav sneaks a boundary to third-man after the ball took the inside edge off his attempted late cut and missed the stumps by a whisker. Bowler James Faulkner isn’t pleased and lets the batsman know of it.

DD 116/4 | Overs 17 | Rohrer 39*, Jadhav 11*

Ben Rohrer drives Shaun Tait’s fullish delivery past a clueless point for four, before the bowler goes back to his short and wide rubbish and is thrashed to the deep point fence.

DD 104/4 | Overs 16 | Rohrer 29*, Jadhav 11*

Siddharth Trivedi completes a tidy spell with figures of one for 21 with a three-run over. Delhi need to pick up their rate.

DD 101/4 | Overs 15 | Rohrer 28*, Jadhav 9*

Delhi Daredevils bring up their hundred as Kedar Jadhav pulls Shane Watson’s short-pitched delivery for four. How many can DD get in the final five overs? They would be aiming for at least 40, if not more.

DD 93/4 | Overs 14 | Rohrer 27*, Jadhav 2*

Ben Rohrer cuts Siddharth Trivedi well between third man, who was up in the circle, and deep point. This is a fine little innings from Rohrer. Delhi can still get to 140 if he sticks till the end.

DD 84/4 | Overs 13 | Rohrer 20*, Jadhav 1*

Sachin Tambe finishes his spell with figures of none for 30, which were ruined by a boundary off the last ball.

DD 78/4 | Overs 12 | Rohrer 15*, Jadhav 0* OUT! Jayawardene 34(31)

Mahela Jayawardene steps down the track to Siddharth Trivedi and plays a classy lofted cover-drive over long-off. before flicking the bowler straight to Rahul Dravid at mid-wicket. The Delhi captain would be disappointed with the looseness of his dismissal.

DD 70/3 | Overs 11 | Jayawardene 27*, Rohrer 14*

Finally a good over for the Daredevils, who score two boundaries from it. Jayawardene first sweeps Pravin Tambe to the deep square-leg fence, before Rohrer plays a cheeky paddle-sweep for four more.

DD 55/3 | Overs 10 | Jayawardene 20*, Rohrer 6*

Siddharth Trivedi comes into the attack and gives away just two runs as the Royals continue to heap the pressure on the Daredevils.

DD 53/3 | Overs 9 | Jayawardene 19*, Rohrer 5*

Pravin Tambe bowls a second decent over as the first Strategic Timeout is taken. The Daredevils need to up their rate, but that isn’t possible if they keep losing regular wickets. Jayawardene has to be the anchor.

DD 48/3 | Overs 8 | Jayawardene 18*, Rohrer 1* OUT! Warner 13(18)

The Daredevils are in trouble here after David Warner plays an awkward shot towards cover where Sachin Bedi dives in front to take a good catch. Binny has his first wicket and the Royals their third. Two runs and a wicket from the over.

DD 46/2 | Overs 7 | Jayawardene 17*, Warner 13*

Pravin Tambe, all of 42 years of age, comes in for a bowl. He does well, giving just five runs.

DD 42/2 | Overs 6 | Jayawardene 15*, Warner 11*

Stuart Binny comes into the attack for his slow-medium pacers and does an excellent job to negate Tait’s last over, conceding just one run. The Royals can now spread their field as the Powerplay is over.

DD 41/2 | Overs 5 | Jayawardene 15*, Warner 10*

David Warner lives on the edge as he flashes hard at Shaun Tait’s wayward deliveries, finding the edge twice and getting one crisp cut away to the fence. Tait is really struggling with his line and I won’t be surprised if he’s taken off for good.

DD 24/2 | Overs 4 | Jayawardene 7*, Warner 1*

James Faulkner returns for a second over and does well to concede just two runs. The two Delhi batsmen are treading cautiously after the early losses. Probably a smart move right now.

DD 22/2 | Overs 3 | Jayawardene 6*, Warner 0* OUT! CM Gautam 2(3)

CM Gautam gets off to a disappointing debut as he nicks Shane Watson to the keeper for an easy catch. The in-form David Warner is the new man in at No 4 as Delhi’s top order collapses for the nth time this season.

DD 21/1 | Overs 2 | Jayawardene 5*, CM Gautam 2* OUT! Sehwag 11(7)

It’s Virender Sehwag’s turn to flick one off his pads as James Faulkner is dispatched to the deep mid-wicket fence. Sehwag follows it up with a sweet punch through the covers for four more. However, Faulkner has the last man as an inswinger finds Sehwag’s inside edge and drags back onto the stumps. Perfect start for the Royals!

DD 11/0 | Overs 1 | Jayawardene 5*, Sehwag 3*

Shaun Tait is rusty coming in to bowl the first over and drifts a bit too much down the leg. Mahela Jayawardene is just too classy to let the looseners go and flicks the Australian off his pads for four. Tait bowls three wides in the over to take his tally to 51 in the IPL.

Delhi Daredevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene has won the toss against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter.

The Daredevils, who have already been knocked out of contention for the playoffs, have made six changes to their side. And Jayawardene remembered all six of them at the toss, to Rahul Dravid‘s admiration.

Pravin Tambe, aged 42, makes his IPL debut for the Royals! Delhi hae brought in one of the leading run-scorers in the last season of the Ranji Trophy — CM Gautam.
