New Delhi: May 20, 2013

A sum of Rs 20 Lakh has been allegedly recovered from one of the accused Ajit Chandila’s relatives, as reported by Times Now on Monday.

Earlier, Chandila’s family had claimed that he was innocent and a victim of consiparcy. Chandila alongwith S Sreesanth and Ankeet Chavan, was arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with spot fixing in IPL 2013.

“He [Ajit] has nothing to do with spot-fixing. He is innocent. He has been framed due to politics. I spoke to him last night. He has been performing well this season, which has made people jealous,” wife of Ajit Chandila, Sarita said.

Chandila’s mother too remained in denial about her son’s involvement in the fiasco.

“This is politics. My son can’t do this. I have given him birth. I know him very well. The truth will soon come out,” said the cricketer’s mother.
