The Mumbai Crime Branch have said that they have cracked the codes used by Gurunath Meiyappan and Vindoo Dara Singh in their telephonic conversations. They allegedly used codes to refer to players, bookies, models etc.

MiDDay reported that the interrogation of the duo revealed that they referred to certain players using these codes. For example, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was referred to as ‘Helicopter,’ Yuvraj Singh was termed ‘Model,’ the big hitting Chris Gayle was referred to as ‘Raavan’ and ‘Makkhi’ was used for Lasith Malinga.

An official from the Crime Branch told the newspaper, “Though most of the codes in the conversation intercepted by us are comprehensible, there are certain words that still have to be worked out. So, we have asked for Meiyappan’s custody, which the court has agreed to and will be in our care till May 31.”

The police are studying the transcripts of the conversations between Gurunath and Vindoo as that would give them further clues. A remand copy of the same has been submitted to the Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
