IPL 2013 spot-fixing: S Sreesanth’s mother thanks those who prayed for him
Kochi: Jun 10, 2013
Savithiri Devi, Kerala-based mother of cricketer S Sreesanth, who was granted bail on Monday by a court in Delhi in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 spot-fixing controversy, thanked all those who prayed for him.
“Now everything is in the hands of the court and I thank all who prayed for him,” Devi said in Kochi on hearing the news of her son getting bail.
Sreesanth and his two Rajasthan Royals teammate Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan were arrested by Delhi police on May 16 from Mumbai and were later booked under the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the IPL spot-fixing controversy.
Sreesanth, Chavan and 17 bookies were granted bail, but Chandila did not as he had not applied for one.
Sreesanth’s parents have maintained since his arrest that their son is innocent.
