Andre Russell, who smashed 66 off just 36 deliveries, which included nine fours and two sixes for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Kings XI Punjab (KCIP) at Pune was one of his special innings.  Russell thinks installing speed gun on his bat is a good idea

“It is one of my special innings,” said a delighted Russell after the match. “I’ve had some good knocks back home in the Caribbean Premier League, but in IPL it’s even more precious, because of the atmosphere and the pressure that you are under. The stage of the game that I got in; we were struggling. I saw the look on the face of Kings XI guys, they had a look of ‘Okay, yeah, we have this in our hands now. But I just backed myself,” Russell said, according to Gautam Gambhir brands Andre Russell a “new breed” of cricketer

Russell’s 28-ball half-century came in at a time when KKR were in a spot of bother. He said his positive, attacking attitude helped him finish the game off. He said, ““The way I play, is not about getting singles. It’s about me batting positively and if you see how the game ended, we won the game with two overs to spare. That might prove crucial for us in terms of run-rate in the long run. You never know what can happen down the road.” Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2015: Highlights

Russell bellieves Yusuf Pathan too played a part in his innings, especially at the time when he was unable to connect a few deliveries. ““Yusuf said to me that we shouldn’t worry, and there was one stage where I missed a few balls and he kept coming to me and talking,” said Russell.

“He told me that even if two maidens were bowled, there was no need to panic. Because we knew we could change the game in 12 or even six balls. Because we both are power hitters and with both of us on the crease they are scared to bowl to us,” he added. PHOTOS: Kings XI Punjab vs Kolkata Knight Riders, IPL 2015: Match 14 at Pune
