“Ashwin has split in his middle finger. We do not know how many stitches he will require…he has been taken to the hospital. The team has decided not to take Ashwin for the next two matches,” CSK team manager Russell Radhakrishnan said during the post-match press conference. Ashwin will remain in Chennai. MS Dhoni had brought in Ashwin to bowl, and he struck with his very first ball as Robin Uthappa played a shot straight to Brendon McCullum. The game took an u-turn at that point. In his next over, Manish Pandey’s game awareness went for a toss as he slogged unnecessarily and was caught at the mid-wicket boundary by Dwayne Bravo to give Ashwin his second victim. However, CSK soon lost the services of Ashwin, who went off the ground having injured his figure while attempting a catch. Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015: Complete coverage
