Former Australia T20 captain and current Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) player George Bailey was struck on the helmet by Aussie teammate Nathan Coulter-Nile‘s bouncer in the RPS vs DD game of IPL 2016. Bailey’s helmet came off as soon as the ball hit it. Bailey though, miraculously walked out unhurt. After the match, Bailey said – “Those watching on TV got a better picture than I did, because all I sort of remember was it was like getting hit in the face by a truck.” It was pretty quick. I was quite glad to have one of the new helmets on.” (As quoted by cricket.com.au) FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: Rising Pune Supergiants  vs  Delhi Daredevils , Live Score, 49th T20 Match, IPL 2016

Bailey was batting alongside Ajinkya Rahane at the crease and duo were rebuilding the innings after Usman Khawaja’s wicket when the incident took place. The rain interrupted match was won by RPS by 19 runs through the Duckworth Lewis method and DD’s hopes of qualifying for the playoffs were given a setback.

Ashok Dinda was the Player of the match for his figures of 3-20. Leg-spinner Adam Zampa too picked up 3 crucial wickets to rock the Delhi Daredevils middle-order as DD ended up with just 121-6 in their 20 overs . The rain played spoilsport twice and RPS easily won at the end. They are now 7th on the IPL Points Table and will play their next match against Kings XI Punjab at Visakhapatnam.  The MS Dhoni-led side have won just 4 matches out of the 13 they have played in this year of IPL and will look to finish on a positive note when they play at home.
