IPL 2016: Moment I feel I am not performing, I will quit, says Pravin Tambe

Pravin Tambe who plays for Gujarat Lion (GL) in the ninth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 is the second oldest cricketer to feature in the IPL with Brad Hogg of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) leading the mid-40’s brigade. Tambe aged 44, has been the find of the IPL since his time with Rajasthan Royals (RR) back in 2013. Tambe has played his cricket at only club or company level in Mumbai, with IPL coming in as a big boost to his career. Tambe who is into his fourth season of IPL thinks that age is just a number for him and that he treats all his games as his last game. “I treat every game as my last game,” the `young man’ said simply , adding, “I am playing for big teams. I don’t want to let them down due to my age. I aim to give 100 per cent in all three departments of the game, every time.” And to keep pace with the younger lot, Tambe has made a few changes in his diet in the past three years. “I have cut down on carbs and added protein in my diet. I have limited rice and vada pao intake. But I do cheat once in a while, I can’t quit vada pao,” Tambe said as reported by Cricbuzz.

Tambe also believes in the motto of staying fit and continuing to play every match which comes his way to keep the body in shape. Tambe added, “I don’t skip a single match. All week long, either I play for my club or my employer to keep myself up to the mark. When not on field, I hit the gym.” Tambe added that he currently has no plans of retirement in sight and will only ponder when he finds himself not giving hundred per cent for the team.

“So far I am doing the job for my team and enjoying my game. The moment I feel I am not performing, I will quit,” he concluded.
