Sourav Ganguly has suggested that Royal Challengers Bangalore are on the back foot in Indian Premier Legaue (IPL) 2016 because of lack of depth and variation in their bowling. He went on to say that this weakness of their will continue to remain the thorn in their side and how well they can prop up that part of their game will determine their progress. Ganguly however praised the RCB skipper Virat Kohli who scored his maiden T20 century earlier in the week. Although the ton came in a losing cause, the former Indian skipper was impressed as he said, “He [Virat] has done it in the past and once again exemplified that even by playing traditional cricketing shots, one can score a hundred in just 20 overs.” Full Cricket Scorecard:Delhi Daredevils vs Gujarat Lions, IPL 2016 Match 23 at Delhi

Ahead of Delhi Daredevils’ clash against Gujarat Lions, Ganguly has termed Delhi the most improved side in IPL 2016. According to Ganguly’s column in Times of India, he added,” Their policy of investing in youth and low-budget players is allowing them the freedom to play . But the biggest challenge for them will be whether their young batting line-up can stand up to the pressure of the entire IPL.”

Ganguly has also been happy with Delhi’s bowling attack. He said since Delhi’s bowling has been their strength as they really turned the screws against Mumbai in spite of not having a very big total to defend at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

At the end, he finished with talking about his home franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Ganguly has suggested that Gautam Gambhir-led KKR are the strongest side in IPL 2016. “Kolkata still continue to be the best team in the tournament so far. Their tried and tested formula of spin continues to work. Though, I feel, that other than Sunil Narine, the rest of the spinners can be put under pressure. But it is the balance of that side which is the highlight. The batting depth, in spite of Uthappa and Gambhir’s failure in the last match, saw them through and it showed that a set team will get you results,” he said.
