Gujarat Lions, inspite of being at the second place in the IPL points table have a net run-rate in negative. But Brad Hodge said that he side will look to win games and remove the net-run issue out of the equation. He said in a press conference prior to the match – ” It’s not ideal being in a minus situation, but if we keep winning games, the net runrate goes out of the equation. I think when we had a couple of bad losses in the tournament earlier, we knew that it would affect our net run-rate. Having said that, we have maintained a winning streak and if we can continue that form from here to the end of the tournament, that should nullify the poor run-rate”, as quoted by TOI.

He felt that Captain Suresh Raina’s absence was a huge blow for his team but believes other players in the team are capable enough to step into his role. He said – ” It’s a huge loss. Anyone who has scored close to 4,000 runs in this tournament will be missed in our line-up.Having said that, we’ve got some players who can step into his role. We’ve got a lot of experience in Dwayne Smith, Aaron Finch, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, all match-winners who can step up and win us a game”, as quoted by TOI.
