Delhi Daredevils put up a solid performance to outclass Steven Smith’s Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) by 7 runs, in match 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. Following the win, Delhi skipper Zaheer expressed his happiness. Zaheer was happy despite Delhi firing at the later stages of the tournament, as he felt that regardless of being out of contention for the playoffs, it was important for the team to win the remaining matches. “Winning always makes you feel good. Even though it’s late in the tournament, it’s important for us to win games. This was a different kind of wicket. It was slowing down a bit. We were always aiming 170, 180. We always knew spinners will be in play right through. All in all a good performance. The games we have lost, we were always in those games. There are other things to look at and plan for the next season. The length which I hit was perfect and there was a bit of shape [getting Rahane out]. Rahane committed to the shot and I got the wicket,” said Zaheer during the post-match presentation ceremony. Delhi Daredevils clinched yet another win at home, and even though they were knocked out of the contention long ago. Delhi Daredevils played with a lot of fervour. After setting a strong target of 169 for Rising Pune Supergiant to win, Delhi brought down the equation from 52 needed off the last 5 overs with 7 wickets in hand to 25 needed off the last over.
