Gautam Gambhir-led KKR registers their 5th straight win against SRH BCCI

After successfully defending the total of 172 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the Gautam Gambhir-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are once again back on top of the points table. KKR skipper Gambhir said wins like these work as confidence booster for the team during the post match ceremony on Saturday at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. With this win, KKR also maintains their winning streak against SRH at Eden Gardens. This was their fifth straight win against SRH at home for KKR. It was the economical bowling from spin duo of KKR Sunil Narine and Kuldeep Yadav which helped them win this contest by 17 runs. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: KKR vs SRH, Match 14

Gambhir himself seemed confident personified during the presentation ceremony post the game. “Quality side would try and win in any situation whether it is bowling first or batting first. We were a good chasing side, but a win like this gives us so much confidence,” Gambhir said, after his bowlers restricted the opposition at 155 for 6 in 20 overs.

He further added, “Lot of people regard us as a chasing side and I think we can take a lot of confidence especially after this win.” Gambhir also said that he understood that chasing 170 would always be tough on the track after seeing SRH spinner Rashid Khan bowl. “After we saw Rashid bowl, we knew that spinners would be effective and 170 was always going to be tough,” he added.

Gambhir further credited Narine and Kuldeep’s bowling and said, “If we can bowl well in the first six overs, we know that we can build pressure with 2 quality spinners. It is always a luxury when you have spinners like Kuldeep and Narine.”

The KKR skipper also praised Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey’s by saying, “They have been hitting really well and we need to continue the momentum.”

KKR’s next game is going to be against Delhi Daredevils at Feroz Shah Kotla on Monday.
