In another emphatic victory for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) versus Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017, Glenn Maxwell not only guided his side to an 8-wicket win, but also helped himself to a personal milestone. In his unbeaten knock of 43 (off 22 balls), he notched up 1,000 runs in the cash-rich league. Maxwell reached to the landmark by finishing off the game with a huge six. He is also on the verge of creating another record for his side in the forthcoming clashes. The Australian has amassed 963 runs for KXIP and will be eager to add more to his tally in the upcoming encounters. Under his leadership, KXIP have won two consecutive matches to start their IPL 10 campaign on a pleasant note after falling apart in the ninth edition. Talking about the game against RCB, KXIP cruised to an easy win courtesy their bowling efforts and an unbeaten 72-run stand between Maxwell and Hashim Amla. Chasing a moderate target, KXIP were bolstered by Amla s unbeaten half-century, and yet another rapid innings from captain Maxwell which made the contest a one-sided affair at Holkar Stadium in Indore. With this victory, KXIP move to the second spot, behind the David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2017 points table. Maxwell’s captaincy has also been a talking point and he will look to take his side to the top, overcoming the reigning champions.

Maxwell’s two unbeaten knocks in this IPL previous one coming against Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) has shown what kind of mindset is into. He is timing the ball with good use of the bottom hand and playing his innovative shots to perfection. This has sent clear signals to the oppositions camps and they will be on their toes to stop him. Maxwell began his IPL journey donning the Mumbai Indians (MI) cap in 2013 but was never given a long rope. As a result, he changed base to KXIP and has been a force to reckon with ever since. He is 37 runs shy of completing 1,000 runs for his current team and will look to go the distance in KXIP’s next tie.
